Ryan Refuses to Explain “Forcible” Rape as Dems Attempt More Akin-izing of the GOP Ticket

Source: ABC News

“You sponsored legislation that has the language ‘forcible rape,’” Delano noted. “What is forcible rape as opposed…”

“Rape is rape,” Ryan interrupted. “Rape is rape, period. End of story.”

“So that forcible rape language meant nothing to you at the time?” Delano asked.

“Rape is rape and there’s no splitting hairs over rape,” Ryan said.

That's from an interview Ryan did that will air this morning on Pittsburgh station KDKA.

I hope this question is asked in the VP debate and pressed for a better answer. I suspect he'll say the same thing, but the at least the whole world will hear "you sponsored legislation that has the language 'forcible rape'.

what's up with "over the pail". Is that an obscure WI idiom or did he mean "beyond the pale" which would fit. (I know this is a digression, but I'm curious )

This is from the CBS link:
“His statements were outrageous, over the pail. I don’t know anybody who would agree with that. Rape is rape period, end of story,” Ryan told KDKA Political Editor Jon Delano.

The irony is that Ryan is an Irish surname, and "beyond the pale" comes from a boundary line in Ireland.

I didn't know the history of the comment - just loved the extravagant sound of the phrase when I was a teen. I always assumed that it might come from the "Pale of settlement" and had never looked up the history.

Ryan says women won’t fall for these side issues.

“And I don’t think they’re going to take the bait of all these distractions that the President is trying to throw at them.”

We women are paying attention, not 'falling for side issues.' For many of us these issues are absolute benchmark.

We all know what happened.

Legislation was working its way through the house regarding what Medicaid would fund. The legislation read that Medicaid funds would cover abortions if the woman was raped.

THEN, several Republicans--INCLUDING PAUL RYAN--co-sponsored a bill that changed the wording of the aforementioned bill.

The only change was that "rape" was now changed to "forcible rape."

Ok mother fuckers (and I don't say mother fuckers very often), what did you mean by "forcible rape." You obviously see a very clear difference between rape and "forcible rape" because you authored, introduced and co-sponsored legislation that ONLY made that specific change.

And Paul Ryan--you sniveling piece of shit. A soundbyte isn't going to get out out of this.

We demand answers!

These people cannot continue to behave like psychopathic brutes and redefine rape behind closed doors. You SERVE US!

Paul Ryan should be held to account and he should be asked to define "forcible rape" and explain how it differs from rape--EVERY DAMN DAY until he answers.

Eagleton was forced off the ballot because he received psychiatric help voluntarily.
Ryan who is in need of psychiatric help refuses to seek same.

statement is that it brings light to the fact that Ryan is cimplicit in his actions in Congress with this guy. That the House has spent the last 2 years voting to defund things like Planned Parenthood, instead of the "jobs" issue the voters placed them into power with... And worst of all; the GOP platform has a Pro-Life (anti- choice) platform... It clearly states that they feel there should be no abortion for any reason including rape or the potential harm for a woman to continue a pregnancy.

There platform is NO CHOICE... And thy were already having issues with the Rush melt down over Birth Control and attacking MS Fluke, who btw, was batted from testifying at a committe hearing on the panel by House Reps, but did allow a crack pot panel of men (mostly religious men) to speak about birth control... And this was because of the ACA making insurance providers pay for birth control as part of a woman's health/ wellness plan.

They were already in hot water for that move; this just shows and in your face attack against women and right before their big convention. The War on Women is very real with these tools.

and statutory rape?

Let Paul Ryan explain why he thinks child victims of rape always should be forced by the US government to carry their rapists' children to term.

And ask him also whether he thinks perpetrators of rape and incest should have parental rights and should get visitation if they pay child support.

ryan was trying to limit acces to abortion to such cases. this means a victim of statutory rape would not count in his mind.
