Manhattan state court judge says no one is above the law
Ruling adds to Stormy Daniels controversy over hush payment
As busy as Donald Trump is being president, he cant avoid a former "Apprentice" contestants defamation lawsuit where he may be forced to respond under oath to allegations of sexual assault and his treatment of women, a judge ruled.
Its an issue that flared up during the election campaign and while hes been president. Trump is separately embroiled in a scandal involving a $130,000 payment to an adult film actress -- Stormy Daniels -- who alleges hes attempting to prevent her from discussing a sexual relationship she had with him in 2006. Danielss interview on 60 Minutes is scheduled to air March 25.
Summer Zervos, a contender on The Apprentice in 2005, sued Trump in January 2017 in Manhattan state court, alleging he ambushed her on more than one occasion starting in 2007, kissing her, touching her breast and pressing his genitals against her.
Trump argued he should be shielded by the U.S. Constitution because its too much of a distraction for the nations chief executive to face civil claims in state court.

Judge rules Trump must face defamation lawsuit from ex-'Apprentice' contestant
BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 03/20/18 02:18 PM EDT
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge has ruled that President Trump's job in the White House does not give him immunity from a defamation lawsuit filed against him by former "Apprentice" contestant Summer Zervos.
In Clinton v Jones the United States Supreme Court held that a sitting president is not immune from being sued in federal court for unofficial acts, Justice Jennifer Schecter wrote in a ruling released Tuesday, according to the New York Post.
It left open the question of whether concerns of federalism and comity compel a different conclusion for suits brought in state court. Because they do not, defendants motion to dismiss this case or hold it in abeyance is denied."
Last year, Reuters reported that lawyers for Trump were arguing that a defamation lawsuit against the president brought by Zervos, who has accused Trump of sexual harassment, should be dropped.

Either of those might mean less "strategic time" watching Fox News.
Sad.

The adult-film actress Stormy Daniels passed a 2011 polygraph test in which she said she had unprotected sex with President Donald Trump, according to the Wall Street Journal.
The lie-detector test took place around the time that Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was exploring selling the story of her affair with Trump to Life & Style Magazine. The test focused on whether she had had "vaginal intercourse" with Trump in July 2006 after the pair met at a celebrity golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, California.
Daniels answered "yes" when asked whether she had sex with Trump, and her answer was deemed "truthful" by the investigator conducting the test. She also said her encounter with Trump had been unprotected, an answer that was also deemed "truthful."
Although Daniels said Trump had promised her a spot on his reality show "The Apprentice," the veracity of her claim was deemed "inconclusive" by the investigator.

A New York judge said Tuesday that a defamation lawsuit against President Trump related to an allegation that he sexually harassed a former Apprentice contestant may go forward.
Summer Zervos filed the suit last year after Trump said publicly that she and other women making similar claims made them up. Trump sought to block the legal action, but New York Supreme Court Judge Jennifer G. Schecter, citing court precedent that led to the impeachment of President Bill Clinton in 1998, said that a sitting president is not immune from being sued in federal court for unofficial acts.
Trump has repeatedly said that all of the women who accused him of touching them inappropriately were lying a sentiment his White House reiterated as questions resurfaced about the allegations.
Trumps attorneys argued that the president cannot be sued in state court and also argued that the comments he made were political opinion and, as a result, squarely protected by the First Amendment. Marc Kasowitz, Trumps personal attorney, did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the ruling Tuesday.
