Advertisers flee InfoWars founder Alex Jones' YouTube channel

Source: CNN

Last week, YouTube reprimanded the conspiracy theory site and Jones for violating its community guidelines after a video posted to The Alex Jones Channel, InfoWars' biggest YouTube account, claimed student anti-gun activists were actors.

Now YouTube and Jones' channel on it are in the spotlight again. CNN has discovered ads on InfoWars' channels from companies and organizations such as Nike (NKE), Acer, 20th Century Fox, Paramount Network, the Mormon Church, Moen, Expedia (EXPE), Alibaba (BABA), HomeAway, the NRA, Honey, Wix and ClassPass.

Even an ad for the UN refugee agency, UNHCR, asking for donations for Rohingya refugees was shown on an InfoWars YouTube channel.

Many of the brands -- including Nike, Moen, Expedia, Acer, ClassPass, Honey, Alibaba and OneFamily -- have suspended ads on InfoWars' channels after being contacted by CNN for comment. The companies, with the exception of Alibaba, which declined to comment, said they had been unaware their ads were running on The Alex Jones Channel.

It's scary when companies are more concerned about being associated with a right-wing racist than our alleged President.

They probably buy a "package" and they're probably guaranteed their ads will be played on channels with Xmillion subscribers or views. This is speculation on my part, but perhaps the companies have to "suspend" their whole ad package until YouTube can guarantee they won't be shown before a specific channel's ads. After that, they'd resume paying for their package.

I.e., a service that bundles rotating sponsors. And for those who see the ads here and how every once in awhile, RW ads might pop up (I do the star membership and don't see them but have seen many posters complain).

So, YouTube was selling the ads and syncing them to Jones' show I guess... these comp.s should be very unhappy with Youtube as well.

To allow microtargeting of select audiences. Hell, if they can do that, they can match advertisers with selected channels. Or keep them off.

Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, together with Putin, didn't have any trouble microtargeting dumbasses considered persuadable dump voters. I'm sure something similar could be worked out to keep corpseorations' ad dollars away from crackpot channels like InfoWarz.
