Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.), the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, on Sunday slammed the budget deal reached last week, saying that Republican leadership "caved."
Our leadership caved. The swamp won and the American taxpayer lost, Meadows told CBSs Face the Nation.
Conservatives in the House Freedom Caucus have derided the two-year budget deal as a loss for Americans, pointing to increased spending. The agreement lead to a brief government shutdown early Friday, as Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) railed against the deal's spending and delayed a vote in the upper chamber.
Meadows on Sunday also denied wanting to take Speaker Ryan's (R-Wis.) job, but called for "soul-searching" within the party in light of the budget agreement.

Paul: Deficit spending no better under Republicans
BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 02/11/18 11:50 AM EST
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Sunday slammed deficit spending under congressional Republicans, saying its no better than the spending he adamantly opposed under former President Obama.
Well you know I think we should draw attention to the fact that we're spending so much money. I ran for office in 2010 with what was called sort of the Tea Party tidal wave, Paul told CBSs Face the Nation.
At that point we were very, very critical of President Obama's deficits, you know, approaching a trillion dollars in a year. We talked endlessly about them we had 100,000 people rally on the [National] Mall in Washington. And I'm still against deficit spending; just because Republicans are doing it, doesn't make it any better.
Pauls remarks come after the Kentucky lawmaker railed against last weeks budget deal and delayed vote on the agreement, causing a brief government shutdown overnight.

(50,557 posts)You may want to take a look at the spending the Drunken Sailor In Chief wants. Worse, not only does he want to spend more than ever before, he wants to pay for it with less tax revenue than ever before.
If you want to solve this problem, throw Trumps administration and his rotten family into a swamp (one with huge alligators, please), replace half your caucus in both houses with Democrats, and remove the words tax cut from your vocabulary.

(1,753 posts)Its no longer the 18th Century.
The United States is a modern, First World, industrialized Nation where Federal spending and regulatory policies are perfectly appropriate, warranted, necessary, proper, and Constitutional.
The spending cuts and deregulation the Anti-Freedom Caucus supports are reckless and irresponsible, as naïve as they are wrongheaded.
