Senior White House official to resign following allegations of abuse
Source: Washington Post
A senior White House official announced Wednesday he will resign following allegations by his two ex-wives of physical and emotional abuse.
The official, Rob Porter, served as the staff secretary and often controlled the paper flow to President Trumps desk, along with his daily schedule. Porter also oversaw the White Houses policy implementation process and worked closely with chief of staff John F. Kelly to try to instill discipline to the chaotic West Wing. He often spent hours of the day with Trump and frequently traveled with him on Air Force One.
These outrageous allegations are simply false. I took the photos given to the media nearly 15 years ago and the reality behind them is nowhere close to what is being described. I have been transparent and truthful about these vile claims, but I will not further engage publicly with a coordinated smear campaign, Porter said in a statement. My commitment to public service speaks for itself. I have always put duty to country first and treated others with respect. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have served in the Trump Administration and will seek to ensure a smooth transition when I leave the White House.
The allegations against Porter by his ex-wives were first reported by the DailyMail.com and senior West Wing aides spent part of Wednesday morning preparing for the fallout from his departure. Many senior officials, including Kelly, urged Porter to stay, according to White House advisers.

WASHINGTON DC The first ex-wife of Rob Porter told DailyMail.com has said that he choked and punched her during their marriage, breaking down her confidence so badly with his verbal and emotional abuse that she took an extended leave of absence from grad school. Porter is currently dating White House Communications Director Hope Hicks, a Connecticut native.
Colbie Holderness, 37, who is a senior analyst for the U.S. government, spoke on the record to DailyMail.com about her five-year marriage following the on-the-record allegations by Porters second wife, Jennifer Willoughby.
She confirmed that she had also been interviewed by the FBI about her marriage after Porter was tapped for his current White House position and required security clearance which he has not received.
.............................
When reached for comment about second wife Jennifer Willoughbys claims, Porter told DailyMail.com: I will not comment about these matters, beyond stating that many of these allegations are slanderous and simply false.
John Kelly, Chief of Staff, commented: Rob Porter is a man of true integrity and honor and I cant say enough good things about him. He is a friend, a confidante and a trusted professional. I am proud to serve alongside him.
But first wife Colbie says that Porter has displayed a pattern of abuse with women................................

The couple met in 2000 at their Mormon church while they were in college
'He was never physically abusive until our honeymoon and that floored me,' Holderness told DailyMail.com
'He would throw me down on the bed, then put his full body weight on top of me, then grind a knee or elbow into my body, expressing rage,' she claims
She says the violence escalated to where Porter was choking her. It was not hard enough for me to pass out but it was scary, humiliating and dehumanizing'
On Tuesday night, Porter's second ex-wife Jennifer Willoughby, also shared the story of her abusive marriage with DailyMail.com
Last week, DailyMail.com revealed that Porter and Hope Hicks are dating, and were seen kissing in a cab on the way back to her apartment

The first ex-wife of Rob Porter, the White House staff secretary, has told DailyMail.com that he choked and punched her during their marriage, breaking down her confidence so badly with his verbal and emotional abuse that she took an extended leave of absence from grad school.
Colbie Holderness, 37, who is a senior analyst for the U.S. government, spoke on the record to DailyMail.com about her five-year marriage.
Her revelations follow DailyMail.com's exclusive interview on Tuesday evening with Porters second wife, Jennifer Willoughby, who told how Porter, 40, once dragged her wet and naked out of the shower and was verbally abusive, calling her a f***ing b***h' on their honeymoon.
In 2010, Willoughby filed a protective order against Porter after he violated their separation agreement and refused to leave their apartment. According to a complaint filed with the police, he punched the glass on the door to their home, cutting his hand in the process.
Holderness revealed to DailyMail.com that she was interviewed by the FBI - as was Willoughby - about her marriage after Porter was tapped for his current White House position as White House staff secretary and required security clearance - clearance which he has not received. .....................

White House staff secretary Rob Porter resigned Wednesday after both of his ex-wives came forward to allege years of physical and mental abuse.
Porter's profile increased in recent months, and he was an integral part of White House chief of staff John Kelly's inner circle.

(94,520 posts)Biblically speaking all those who are under various authorities can and should be disciplined by those authorities. The husband wife relationship is no exception to this rule. So how should a Christian husband go about his duty of disciplining his wife whom God has placed under his authority? This is a question that we will seek to answer here.

(20,246 posts)Christ called followers as His 'disciples'. Better said that virtue/positive traits/behavior is displayed/offered appealing to others to follow likewise.
I am not fond of that word 'discipline'. It smacks of punishment/control. Better the word be 'correction'.
This is the result of those who practice 'Sola Scriptura' of Holy Scripture. No inclusion of Oral Tradition/allegory.
They interpret to their liking, their influencing, their controlling.
Christ is the Head, the husband under him and then the wife, so to speak.
They corrupt the teaching of Christ in order to control.
This is not the message. Christian belief is Christ put His life on the line for humanity, creation. He voluntarily lay down His life for His brother/sister.
They conveniently disregard verses connected with Christ as Head of the household and then on. 'Husband' is to treat the wife in the manner of Christ. 'HE SHOULD BE READY TO LAY DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HER AS CHRIST DID.'
Do they preach/teach that??
Do they preach/teach that it is a noble and honorable act to 'lay down your life your life for your brother/sister?? No, a lot is: where's mine/me first/"I got mine, tough for you."
Some of this Western 'christian' mentality that permeates the denominations in the U.S. gets me rankled.
I'm done.
Where's my aspirin or Tramadol.
I'm too old for this crapola.

(9,982 posts)I clicked on your link and read some of that utter garbage. The writer treats women as chattel and deserving of regular punishment if she misbehaves. Of course, Im sure he thinks a husband can do anything he damn well pleases with no consequences. I just cannot imagine any self-respecting woman putting up with that crap. Its definitely out of the dark ages. And Trumps evangelicals probably will approve of Porter because he would just be disciplining his misbehaving wives!

(33,643 posts)Wouldn't he be coming into contact with highly classified info all the time in that job, 'controlling paper flow to Cheeto's desk'? Seems odd.
Perhaps he had an 'interim' clearance while his app was looked at, but maybe the FBI just reached a formal 'NO!' and intimated in no uncertain terms that Porter basically cannot have that job anymore, and that's why he's leaving now?
Otherwise, why isn't he just staying if his claim is that it isn't true, and Kelly is saying he doesn't want him to quit? Surely Trump himself would be wanting him to stay as well, he could give a crap about this sort of behavior.
I have to think SOMEthing happened that made it so he HAS to resign ... that we're not being told.

The worst of the worst seem to get stuck and a hold placed by the FBI if they attempt clearances but way too much dirty baggage and a closet full of skeletons haunting their past.

But the moment they got in the cab to go back to Hicks' D.C. apartment they started cuddling and kissing in the back seat.
As soon as the taxi took off they both moved from their sides of the cab to the middle. Rob was kissing Hope's neck all the way home,' an eyewitness to the red-hot White House couple said.
