The official story that a top justice official and key witness in the potential obstruction case against Trump stepped down just got demolished by Trump's own son.
When it was announced last week that Andrew McCabe, deputy director of the FBI, was immediately stepping down from his position, questions were raised about the circumstances of his departure.
The Trump administrations position was clear: they wanted McCabe gone. At the behest of Trump, Attorney General Jeff Sessions had reportedly been pushing for McCabes firing for months. Thats why many people were suspicious of the sudden and unexpected news that McCabe would be stepping down.

My view is that McCabe could have stayed, but chose to be part of a strategic plan instead. The FBI isn't comprised of people who would whimper away. They're generally very bright people. McCabe and Wray sat down a few times and discussed the best string of decisions that would be most beneficial for the agency, and that would bring Trumpy down. McCabe figures that retreating now will make for an easier victory later.
