PUTIN SAYS ‘SHREWD’ KIM JONG UN HAS OUTWITTED TRUMP IN NUCLEAR STANDOFF BETWEEN NORTH KOREA, U.S.

BY MAYA RAJAMANI ON 1/11/18 AT 2:43 PM

Russian President Vladimir Putin paid North Korea’s Kim Jong Un a compliment on Thursday, calling him a “shrewd and mature politician” whose country had come out on top in its nuclear standoff with South Korea and the U.S.

In his New Year’s address, Kim warned of “a nuclear button on the desk in [his] office” that could launch a strike anywhere in the U.S., but also spoke of easing tensions between North and South Korea “to create a peaceful environment,” prompting a series of high-level talks between the two countries.

In a meeting with Russian journalists on Thursday, Putin praised Kim for his statements and for initiating the talks, the first of which took place on Tuesday. “I believe Mr. Kim Jong Un has certainly won this round,” Putin said, according to Russian state news outlet RT.

“He has a nuclear [charge] and a...missile with a range of up to 13,000 kilometers that can reach almost any place on Earth, or at least any territory of his potential adversary,” he added.

1. Sounds like Putin is putting a little paper

on the man-child's shoulder with a "double-triple dare you", and we should be concerned because the man-child will react.

3. Hmm. This Sounds like Putin is sending a message to Trump.

And it's not complimentary which probably indicates a threat.
He may be saying to Trump that he had better shut down the Mueller investigation or else.
Trumps Actions in the next few days could reflect his response to this.

5. trumpy will has a sad......

He doesn't like losing. He especially doesn't like losing to north korea. He really doesn't like it becoming public. He really, really, doesn't like it to come from putin.

Hopefully he tweets something like "Vlad likes me so much he helped me win".

12. That is an important thing to remember

Putin doesn't intervene in elections around the world because he always favours one particular side for the long-term. Destabilization is a more important factor. More importantly for this story, he couldn't care less if the US is harmed and the target of missiles.

8. Every single quote attributed is part of a larger sentence. Real journalists do not do that.

Anyone have the full quotes?

13. What Putin fails to acknowledge here is...

If a country led by a batshit insane government like North Korea's has such a weapon, *everyone* within range has lost the round. Russia included.

14. Well, what effect will this have on Trump?

I worry it will make Trump run toward Putin, and God only knows what he'll give away next.

Also, it's been my understanding that Russia supports NK, so I'm wondering if they tutor NK in stuff like this??
