Ex-Obama staffer starts GoFundMe for Moore accuser whose house burned down
Source: The Hill
A former Obama staffer has set up a GoFundMe for the Roy Moore accuser whose house burned down earlier this week.
The home of Tina Johnson, who said in November that the former GOP Senate candidate groped her in the 1990s, was destroyed in a fire Tuesday that is now being investigated for arson.
Katie Jacobs Stanton, who served in the White House and State Department under former President Obama, posted the link to the online fundraiser on Twitter.
This is really upsetting, Stanton wrote. I havent set up a GoFundMe before but inspired to do so today. If anyone knows how to reach Ms. Johnson to let her know help is on the way, let me know.

(23,314 posts)They're only asking for $20,000. Doesn't seem like a lot when you have lost everything. I hope they get a lot more than what the goal states. I feel so badly for her and for her family. Can you imagine what they are going through?

(17,984 posts)You're right, though, it doesn't sound like very much. And I bet there were some heirlooms and scrapbooks that cannot be replaced. It's very sad to think about.

(3,764 posts)the page now says that they've raised:
$61,211 of $40,000 goal.
So they already have gotten 3 times the original goal. Probably not enough but I'm sure it will help - and only in 14 hours.

(205,355 posts)Mostly from small donations, $5, $10, $25. And while this will certainly help her rebuild, the support she is getting from this has to be even more helpful.

(205,355 posts)They raised the amount from $40,000 to $100,000 after this took off and they've already exceeded this by another half - and it's still going. The money will certainly help her get back on her feet, but I think the support she's getting will help her morale - it indicates that people believe her.

On the ironic side, I felt like $25 donation is sort of like a kind of homelessness prevention for a very good person
