1. Is this separate from Mueller?

In concert with Mueller, in spite of Mueller, or from Mueller himself? Very curious. Seems a big contrast to Trump's obliviousness to Russian meddling and might make it even more difficult to fire Mueller (unless this is some sneaky way to undermine him). Geez I don't trust anything or anyone these days. I guess that was the intended effect.

2. I think this was separate and started before Mueller was appointed.

But I expect that Mueller would incorporate this into his investigation (i.e., part of his role was to consolidate and synergize the separate investigations).

4. Sounds like it is separate, inside DoJ. Mueller is "attached" to the DoJ, not part of it. . . . nt

"what is to stop them from going to Russia where they are safe?". Then I read on and saw that Mueller has also thought of this obvious possibility and is taking precautions. Good, good, good!

The Justice Department has identified more than six members of the Russian government involved in hacking the Democratic National Committee’s computers and swiping sensitive information that became public during the 2016 presidential election, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Prosecutors and agents have assembled evidence to charge the Russian officials and could bring a case next year, these people said. Discussions about the case are in the early stages, they said.
