69 Republicans vote against aid for Puerto Rico, other disaster sites

Source: the hill

By Cristina Marcos - 10/12/17 05:38 PM EDT

Legislation to provide $36.5 billion in aid for communities affected by recent wildfires and hurricanes, including Puerto Rico, secured widespread support in the House on Thursday save for 69 Republicans.

The votes in opposition included many members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, who believe government spending should not add to the deficit.

Freedom Caucus leaders like Chairman Mark Meadows (N.C.), Justin Amash (Mich.) and Jim Jordan (Ohio), voted against the aid package.

It also provides $1.27 billion for disaster food assistance for Puerto Rico. The U.S. territory remains largely without power, with many residents still lacking access to food or clean water.

30. With all due respect...

While civility is appreciated, the act of fellatio or "cocksucking" is not exclusively reserved for those who identify as "homosexual".

Perhaps a better response would be to advocate for perjoratives that don't engender sexuality or genitals at all.

"Those dimbulbs!"

or

"Those Republicans..."

38. Referencing the act as an INSULT is by reference to homosexuality

Referenced as such even by guys who like their wives to perform it.

When it is used as an insult without consideration of homosexuality, it disses women as in "only women and gays suck cock."

17. Just like the two POS hypocrite Senators from my state, they will want aid when disaster strikes

their states. I am still ashamed of my senators for opposing Sandy relief. Worse than than that hypocrisy though would be if they voted against their own state receiving aid in a disaster. Some of those guys are evil enough to do it!

Stupid, selfish, greedy f--kers! If they were so worried about the deficit they would cut military spending and require a full audit of the Pentagon. They would also not want to cut taxes, but that is ALL THEY WANT!!!

They don't require those for massive tax cuts for the wealthy or war authorizations, do they?

15. Remember that the Jones Act will effectively reduce by half whatever disaster

money Puerto Rico gets. $36 million, split between just Houston, Florida, California and Puerto Rico is just $9 million each, less the costs of the damn Jones Act, so Puerto Rico gets maybe $4.5 million. That's negligible, given the scope of the damage.

Why get rid of a subsidy to U.S. (in name only) shipping companies, just to help some Podunk island in the middle of the Caribbean. They don't even have a real vote in congress, after all...
On edit for those who didn't get it.

This is nothing new at all. It's not shocking or outrageous. It's just business as usual.

They don't give a fuck about anyone in Puerto Rico. They don't give a fuck about anyone other than themselves, or people that can do something for them.

and I will use this against him as I knock on EVERY door in my precinct to get rid of him in 2018.

This does NOT represent the people of Western North Carolina who will give you the shirt off their back.

I need to vent....I hate Donald Trump and his whole dysfunctional family, Mike Pence is a fucking hypocrite,
and everybody that voted Republican can just fuck off.

You would think Trump would have more sympathy for Puerto Rico since he, too, is underwater, a disaster area, and largely without power.

35. Lets put this in perspective of what this asshole mark Meadows is and what he is trying to do

Freedom Caucus chairman courts Dems on tax reform

"Rep. Mark Meadows, the conservative hard-liner and chairman of the far-right House Freedom Caucus, is playing an unlikely role in the push for tax reform: liaison to Democrats.

In a bid to help shape and build support for the tax package, the North Carolina Republican has been reaching across the aisle to a handful of moderate Democrats, he told The Hill in an interview. The outreach includes Rep. John Delaney (Md.), who has said he’s running for president in 2020, and Rep. John Garamendi, the former California insurance commissioner and lieutenant governor.

Meadows’s top ally, former Freedom Caucus chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), has taken part in many of those informal, bipartisan discussions."

http://thehill.com/homenews/house/355233-freedom-caucus-chairman-courts-dems-on-tax-reform

As for the democrats in this piece from these two states, I will be calling Delaney's office tomorrow, since I live in Maryland

U.S. Capitol Switchboard, (202) 224-3121 ...
