Source: Politico

CNN reports that Christie is in talks with the network and its rival, MSNBC, about being a contributor after he leaves office in January. The CNN report cited anonymous sources "with knowledge of the talks."
According to the report, Christie is not in talks with Fox News.

Watch it, MSNBC. You're already on my shit list.

(58,785 posts)Who are you referring to on weekends, though? Curious mind needs to know. I confess weekends been off my list, except for an occasional Joy.
I just noticed I forgot to mention CNN. Cut that network entirely -- except for Fareed Zakaria -- when I saw one of their Fox take-ons claiming the ACA mandatory coverages meant people had to pay for maternity coverage when they didn't need it.

(19,972 posts)A supposed great idea by Andy Lack. I must see if I can find his numbers.... I can only imagine he's less popular than the prison documentaries !!!
I agree that apart from Joy, the weekend is pretty weak for MSNBC. Velshi and Ruhle are excellent during the weekday daytime.
I rarely watch CNN nowadays, there are few matching the likes of Joy, Rachel, Lawrence, Ari, Velshi & Ruhle, Chris and even for a Rep, Nicole Wallace is pretty good.

(58,785 posts)corruption displayed by their "in-group mentality" coverage of Clinton, though, for the simple reason that it's very much alive. They're currently twisting both questions about Comey's role in throwing the election to the Republicans, because anything else would support her, and her viewpoints in her book.
I'm not a cultist type, of Clinton or anyone else. Our republic is sacred to me, and I don't forgive the incredible betrayal of duty to the electorate, even subversion, of most of the MSM. So many evil elements came together in 2016, but none are larger than the beltway media's betrayal of us, in this case very much including the talking heads' pathetically banal desire to keep their faces on the screen and positions on the social A lists.
Btw, I went back and added Fareed Zakaria to those I mentioned. He's in a class almost by himself on that network, as the heads of state who agree to appear on his program clearly believe, and we record him so we don't actually have to tune in to CNN.

(19,972 posts)They weren't alone. They have redressed the balance to some extent, however in future the Democratic Party need to be ready for shit like that, and organize massive protests up front, to hit back.

(58,785 posts)coverage of Clinton in coming weeks. Nothing's changed. For so many -- media, elected officials, ex-politicians, appointees, wealthy buyers-ins -- the desire to do whatever they have to to become and remain part of the DC in crowd is all corrupting.
And for that, I point you as an example to Katie Tur. A rising star who never needed to mention Hillary during the campaign, but who now sounds like she's interviewing for a perch on a stool in a minidress over at Fox every time the subject of Hillary comes up. She knows what that kind of success requires, and very obviously her "standards" do not require her to walk away and instead take an honorable job at Mother Jones or PBS.

(37,648 posts)You know how they have all those regulars on the various shows that give their opinions? Those are the paid pundits. They are legitimate political or politically connected, or esteemed authors. They're high level people. They hire them from both sides of the aisle, since they need opinions from both sides.
Steele is a Republican pundit on MSNBC. The network has a lot of neutral or liberal pundits. It's important to hear all sides. These aren't people making political speeches. That's in the past, if they were politicians. As pundits they are all more moderate, and the two sides actually agree on their takes on different things, like Trump's constant lies. Like the Russia investigation.
Christie might be a good pundit.

(54,443 posts)The guy DOES have good verbal skills (far in excess of his political skills, it seems), but his conscience has long devolved into cells of another nature, and someone as devoid of morals as he should NOT be on MSNBC, although I suppose the same could have been said of Ed Schultz.
I'm shocked he's not headed straight for Fox Noise. Maybe they told him the line he'd have to tow, and he told them to fuck off. If CNN will give him more freedom to spout off as he sees fit, then it does make more sense for him to go there. However, Christie at MSNBC would be the media equivalent of what Michigan did the Flint water supply: it would pollute heavily and make a LOT of people sick.

(47,602 posts)Christie wears on people and right now he's been over exposed on the public stage. Politics aside, I find the man very arrogant and irritating. I can't even begin to imagine what he could "contribute" to either CNN or MSNBC.

(54,443 posts)CNN--instead of Republicans masquerading as objective commentators/anchors (Wolf Blitzer e.g.), might as well have the partisan Republicans wear their true colors on their sleeves.
I can see him on CNN, but even there, I think he'd wear out his welcome pretty quickly. Poor guy, politics appear to be over for him, and he just doesn't fit in anywhere.
