Trump may reverse decision on climate accord, France's Macron says: JDD

Source: Reuters

PARIS (Reuters) - French President Emmanuel Macron said he was hopeful that U.S. President Donald Trump would reverse his decision to pull the United States out of the Paris climate accord, according to weekly newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche (JDD) on Sunday.

"Trump) told me that he would try to find a solution in the coming months," Macron told the paper, referring to meetings the two leaders had this week in Paris.

"We spoke in detail about the things that could make him come back to the Paris accord," he added.

Trump has said the Paris accord is soft on leading polluters like China and India, putting U.S. industry at risk.

4. It would be great if he would. He's getting a lot of flack for it...from unexpected places.

Some big corporations placed a big ad in a newspaper backing the accord and environmental controls, and some other rich people have criticized it, when you wouldn't think they would.

5. I could see Trump reversing

All depends on whether Macron can whisper better sweet nothings in his ear than Putin.

7. Too many corporations

and Trump-supporting fat cat CEO/billionaires want to continue unsupervised, unregulated pollution and climatic damage so profits and stock prices remain high. Would be nice if Macron holds any sway over Trump on this issue but I'm not holding my breath.

9. Trump always goes along with the last person he talks to.

And then... it changes.

10. If Trump backed out of the Paris Accord as revenge for Macron's squeezing handshake,

Maybe he'll reverse his decision now that he got in a 30-second power shake, thereby evening the score.

16. In the old days, this would have been called a "stretch".

And this is what it's come to.

11. Oh, horseshit . . . .

There's no way, since it's one of the few things he's done that's gotten the Deplorables the endorphin hit they've been craving - "Yeah, take THAT, libtard greenies!"

This is particularly true in light of the full-court-press of an announcement in which he told the rest of the planet to go fuck itself - everything but chocolate fountains and dancing girls.

12. If there's a profitable hotel in it somewhere it wouldn't surprise me.

What seems to count in the heartland is the evil intention, and once the slap-down is delivered, the walk-backs and rewrites are less important.

14. Macron needs to realize Trump only wanted an opportunity to go to a military parade.

And, possibly, grope Madame Macron.

15. Macron also needs to realize that Trump defiles and degrades everyone he touches.

Everyone who thinks that they can "handle" their association with him ends up contaminated with his slime.
I know that Macron is a bit of a cipher himself, but still: I continue to be perplexed why Macron invited him in the first place.
