Democrats exploring lawsuit against Trump

Source: The Hill

Senate Democrats are exploring a lawsuit against President Trump on the grounds that his vast business empire has created conflicts of interest that violate the Constitution.

The effort is being led by Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), who has had preliminary discussions with several senators about the idea.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) confirmed Blumenthal has pitched the idea of a lawsuit, but stressed that no decision has been made.

"I'm yielding to him on the legal issues. I'm not a constitutional scholar on standing, so if he can figure out a way to do it, I'm rooting for him," he said.

Trump started his Presidency by lying before God with his hand on the Bible.

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

... but it won't get him out of office. It's not the same as impeachment. Any lawsuit against a sitting President will be delayed until he's no longer in office. There are legal precedents, so this won't change in the near future.

However if we hit him with lawsuits he'll realize that he can't use the office of POTUS to enrich himself, and that's a very important thing he needs to understand. Apparently Trump was unaware of that when he was running for the Presidency.

good luck with that. Wish them well.

..............Feinstein said during a town hall last week that her staff is "looking very closely" at the Emoluments Clause.

In addition to a potential lawsuit, Feinstein said Democrats are examining whether Congress could deny payments for certain White House expenditures, including trips for Trump’s sons.

“It’s being done by people who really have a great sense of ethics,” she said. “We’re working on all of these to get good solid legal answers.”.......

I'm hearing a lot of strong language from Dems that seems new, like poo poo on the shoe, and the moves happening in Congress seem stronger now.

to do it. If they spend the next year and half talking about trump lawsuits it could be used against them in the 2018 elections
