Israeli strikes have hit an arms depot operated by the Lebanese Hezbollah group near Damascus airport, Syrian opposition sources told Al Jazeera.
Witnesses said a total of five strikes occurred near the Damascus airport road, about 25km from the capital, early on Thursday.
Syrian state TV quoted a military source saying rockets fired from Israeli territory targeted a military area in the southwestern part of the airport which caused explosions.
Al Jazeera's Hashem Ahelbarra, reporting from the Turkish city of Gaziantep near Syria's border, said opposition activists posted pictures online showing a huge fire near the area.

(18,964 posts)Israeli involvement can only complicate an already complicated conflict.
If there is one thing the competing Islamic fundamentalist groups can agree upon it is their hatred of Israel...
If there is one item that will irritate Russia it's Syrian territory being attacked (and maybe Assad's supporters) being bombed/rocketed by Israel.
Adding Israel as another factor/player in this conflict can't be a good thing.
Can't believe the enthusiasm for this action.
Just my humble opinion.

Wars within wars - it is complex. But Israel has to look out for their own interests.
