Turkish warplanes strike Kurdish militants in Syria, Iraq's Sinjar

Source: Reuters

Turkish warplanes bombed Kurdish militants in Iraq's Sinjar region and in northeastern Syria on Tuesday, killing at least 20 in a widening campaign against groups affiliated with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

The air strikes in Syria targeted the YPG - a key component of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which are backed by the United States and have been closing in on the Islamic State bastion of Raqqa.

The Turkish raids showed the challenges facing U.S.-led attempts to defeat Islamic State in Syria and risks increasing tension between NATO allies Washington and Ankara over Kurdish combatants who have been crucial in driving back the jihadists.

A U.S. military officer accompanied YPG commanders on a tour of the sites hit near Syria's frontier with Turkey later on Tuesday, a Reuters witness said, demonstrating the close partnership.

the US Kurdish allies against ISIS in NE Syria (Not the PKK) are
social anarchists with a big dose of feminism thrown in. Many of
their fighters are women.

I wonder if any of the US special forces troops fighting with them
have been infected with the ideology of Murray Bookchin.

The Kurdish people are the world's largest nation without a state.

It was promised to them after WWI.

And these Kurds will say themselves that they fight - against ISIS. "Militant" is also Reuters' choice of word, not anyone else's. Turkey, in its account of this, calls them "terrorists".

should've been kicked out of NATO a long time ago

Erdogan isn't good enough to clean a YPG fighter's shoes. To hell with Turkey and Erdogan!

"militant" is a pejorative . .

though as you say, not up to the same level of
dastardliness as "terrorist."

Think for yourself
