(81,238 posts)Well, he's longtime KBG, and he strikes me as a VERY calculating type - such a smooth, slick, sinister operator, he never leaves a fingerprint. And trump has already lied about him, as recently as today. Said he doesn't know the guy. Well, he's already admitted meeting Putin years ago, I think during his Miss Universe dealings. Putin's been around awhile. I'd bet he knows where more than just all the bodies are buried. Wouldn't surprise me if he even knows where Jimmy Hoffa wound up.

(2,857 posts)The guy killed on Clintons campaign was a computer voting specialist. Shot in the back and not robbed. Sounds like he got to close to finding out something was going on, either with the hack in the DNC or the individual states.
They really didn't have to hack the states. They just needed to plant or turn someone in the company that services the machines that we aren't allowed to inspect now. Maybe he figured this out.

(49,001 posts)While tRump is doling out goodies and payback to Putin he's useful.
When he has nothing more to offer or gets blocked by Congress / The People / The Courts, then Putin will return to Plan A, which is to further destabilize the US. That would include releasing the videos / audios while throwing tRump to the wolves and provoking constitutional chaos via Amendment 25 or impeachment.
Until then, he has to protect their value, which means stopping further leaks / confirmations of what he is holding. Hence the assassination. Their value is greatly tied to the surprise / shock factor when they eventually get released.

Russia gets wind that Steele, who has to be known to Russia, is digging around for information. They let out a few stories about Russian security officials having compromising information about Trump with the intent on finding out where the leaks are in their own internal organization.
