Rep. Steve King (R-IA) Thursday introduced a bill that would implement a nationwide abortion ban, modeling it after the heartbeat bills already found unconstitutional in federal court.
Under HR 490, an abortion provider who performs an abortion without determining
whether the fetus has a detectable heartbeat, informing the mother of the results of that determination,: or after determining
that the fetus has a detectable heartbeat, will face fines and up to five years in federal prison.
In a press release, King called Roe v. Wade unconstitutional, arguing, lives have been ended by the abortion industry, all with a rubber stamp by the federal government.
Human life, beginning at the moment of conception, is sacred in all of its forms and today, I introduced a bill that will protect the lives of voiceless innocents, he said.

(23,237 posts)I hate to think what would have happened if she had to have the spawn of the asshole who forced himself on her. OMG, makes me so sick what these repug assholes are trying to do. A strict interpretation of this would disallow birth control and our birth rate would skyrocket, many of them to poor young mothers who aren't prepared for children and are mostly still children themselves. It's part of their long term dream, a huge underclass of workers who have no education (they want to end free public education too) so have no choice but to work for slave wages and will die young due to lack of healthcare. They want to return to the days of serfs and barons and guess what role they want for us?

(61,721 posts)Not if medical doctors explain how birth control, all forms of it, actually work. I know of no birth control that stops a beating heart.
But I get your point, completely, and am so glad I have no daughters and am unable to get pregnant myself. That doesn't mean I'm going to quit advocating for reproductive rights, though. What the gop wants is terrifying.

(3,847 posts)All the rural areas have as many abortions as the sniff, big city. What are they going to do when they can't even go to a doctor to find out if they are pregnant? Take pregnancy tests 2 weeks after they have sex?
All these troglodytes like King need to be voted out of office before he can do any more damage.
