Poll: Clinton builds lead in divided nation worried about Election Day violence
Source: USA Today
WASHINGTON As the most caustic campaign in modern American history nears its close, Hillary Clinton has built a formidable lead over Donald Trump approaching 10 percentage points, a USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll finds. But she faces a deeply divided nation that is alarmed about the prospect of Election Day violence and what may be ahead.
A 51% majority of likely voters express at least some concern about the possibility of violence on Election Day; one in five are "very concerned." Three of four say they have confidence that the United States will have the peaceful transfer of power that has marked American democracy for more than 200 years, but just 40% say they are "very confident" about that.
More than four in 10 of Trump supporters say they won't recognize the legitimacy of Clinton as president, if she prevails, because they say she wouldn't have won fair and square.

She now leads Trump among likely voters by 47%-38% in a four-way race. (Without rounding, she leads by 9.80 points, 47.40%-37.60%.) Support for third-party candidates has been cut in half since late August, a trend that is common for as voting nears. Libertarian Gary Johnson has dropped to 4% and Stein to 2%.

(429 posts)unless a democrat wins the White House. When a Republican is elected, you never hear this. Also, when there is a Republican controlled house and senate, you'll never hear the cries of bipartisanship. Democrats are rendered persona non grata. If you will recall, when Obama had a Democratic house and senate, all you could hear from the Republicans, was bipartisanship, bipartisanship, bipartisanship.

Media gleefully goes along with it, too.

(1,307 posts)They ignored all this crap about him when it was common knowledge. He was just so fucking cool. Trump is right about one thing. The media is biased. If not for them he would never have been the nominee of the GOP.

(11,495 posts)All kinds of crap from the MSM about how Trump is catching up, or Hillary is not doing well with this or that group of voters, blah, blah blah! They media just can't accept facts, and they still are trying to push some iknd of "tight" race scenario, even though many members of the upper GOP have said it's over, Trump has no chance, etc. Even Karl Rove said is over.
I will be so glad when this is all over, and hopefully Trump will be spending all of his time trying to keep from gong to jail over all the things that have come out this year about him, his business, and of course his so called foundation he uses to pay for things he isn't supposed use it for.

(164 posts)but want to keep people thinking it's "close" so they'll tune in, which means ratings which means revenue! I cut cable in August and don't watch much of ANY news except from the local paper. Money never takes a back seat for anything or anyone.

(1,307 posts)Heard none of this. All they are talking about is the Bloomberg poll showing her losing to Trump by 2 points in Florida. I have no where to go for news on television. F**c NBNBC.
