Curt Schilling Baffled By Jewish People, Asks Jake Tapper To Explain

Curt Schilling, a man who is totally fine with grown men checking out 10-year-old girls, doesn’t understand how people of the Jewish faith can vote for Democrats.

Specifically, how could they possibly be anything more than one-issue voters focused singularly on Israel?

”As a person who’s practicing the Jewish faith and has since you were young,” Schilling opened, “I don’t understand how people of Jewish faith can back the Democratic Party, which over the last 50 years has been so clearly anti-Israel.”

Tapper, giving his best poker face, responded, “Well, I don’t speak for Jews ... and I don’t support the Democratic Party or the Republican Party.”

He was on Hardball tonight and blathered on about how he didn't want to learn anything about politics, despite wanting to run for Warren's seat. Matthews tried to explain to him why this sort of thing with Tapper offended people, but he didn't get it. Doesn't seem to want to either.

show out of NH on Saturday mornings from some venture with Howie Carr (former RW radio hack out of Boston). And he does early AM spots on RW sports radio on and off on WEEI. In other words he surrounds himself with just the right number of people of his ilk to think he speaks for the common man out there in MA. He should get out more. Most of us can't stand him in MA.

15. Also an interesting assumption about all Democrats. I haven't seen....

...a democratic president or government say "we're abandoning Israel" yet. There is a difference between disagreeing with Israel or even voting against letting it do whatever it wants and having no support for it at all. Granted that there are democrats that might want to cut Israel lose, but, again, one can't speak for all democrats.

And I'd also say that the motives of evangelical Christian republicans don't seem all that pure or reliable either. If Israel was in the middle of Poland and not where all those Christian holy sites are located, would republicans want to spend this much time and money protecting it? I'm sure some Republican Evangelicals care about the Jewish state for its own sake and not the holy Christian sites it's keeps safe for them...but one does wonder how much they'd love to have the area back in Christian hands like the days of the Crusaders.

Only cares about Israel being in Jewish hands to fulfill their ridiculous end times fantasy. They'll be the first ones to throw us into the fiery pits of hell for not accepting Jesus. The differences in the two parties concerning Israel are minuscule. Both parties do represent the fact that the majority of Americans support the Israeli state. The Democratic Party happens to represent the values the Jewish people find important. That's why we vote the way we do.

I suspect Schilling's question comes more from him being a right-winger than a genuine interest in Jews' voting behavior.

But I like how Tapper treats it as a legitimate question and takes a stab at it. The Washington Post took it a little further a while ago, which I also liked:
