Former Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling said on Tuesday that he's planning to run against Sen. Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts' 2018 Senate race.

The conservative former baseball player, beloved in New England for pitching through a bloody ankle injury in the 2004 playoffs, said that while he still needs to speak to his family, in his mind he's already decided to challenge Warren.

"I've made my decision. I'm going to run," Schilling said on Rhode Island radio station WPRO. "But I haven't talked to Shonda, my wife. And ultimately it's going to come down to how her and I feel this would affect our marriage and our kids."

Schilling has repeatedly hinted that he would challenge Warren, a beloved figure on the left. But his remarks on Tuesday amounted to his most concrete statement yet on challenging Warren, who defeated former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) in 2012.

Curt Schilling appeared on Fox Business Network today and defended Donald Trump‘s lewd remark to a 10-year-old in a way that stunned host Trish Regan.

One of the recently-unearthed past Trump remarks includes The Donald looking at a group of preteen girls and joking about one of them, “I am going to be dating her in 10 years. Can you believe it?”

Schilling argued to Regan today, “How many times have you looked at a young man and said ‘Wow, he’s a beautiful young man’ or ‘Wow he’s a gorgeous young man’?”

Regan said, “Zero.” Schilling called that a “lie” because, he insisted, “there’s no way you haven’t seen somebody else’s son and said ‘Wow, he’s beautiful.'”

With one notable exception, Arnold Schwarzenegger, RWNJs who become politicians start their journey by moving to extremely red states. (And the thing is, Arnold was a God-awful excuse for a governor but politically he's not all that far to the right. Compared to Raul Labrador or Jeb Hensarling, he's almost a leftist.) Mass, however, is NOT an extremely red state and they have good senators - and if we can keep Martha Coakley, the worst campaigner in the history of the Commonwealth, from seeking another Senate seat they should continue to have good senators. How in fuck is Schilling going to campaign against Elizabeth Warren and win in that state?

My recommendation, young Curt: if you really want to be in the Senate, run - straight to South Carolina, where people as fucked in the head as you can get elected. If they'd send Strom Thurmond to Washington for eight straight terms, you're a cinch to get elected.

Warren from any meaningful challenge in the general election. Even if Schilling does not win the primary, he will certainly smear the bankster opponent selected to challenge Warren and weaken the alternative nominee.

If Warren is going to be opposed (and there is no doubt that there are groups who will ensure that Warren is opposed), we can only hope that her opposition will be as weak as Schilling.
