'Bridgegate' co-conspirators can remain secret: U.S. appeals court

A federal appeals court said prosecutors in the 2013 George Washington Bridge lane-closing scandal known as "Bridgegate," involving allies of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, need not disclose the names of unindicted co-conspirators to news media.
By a 3-0 vote, the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia ruled on Wednesday that the names were "not subject to any First Amendment or common law right of public access."
The decision overruled a lower court judge's order in May requiring disclosure of the names.
It came a day before jury selection is scheduled to begin in the trial of William Baroni, a former deputy executive director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and Bridget Anne Kelly, a former Christie deputy chief of staff.

(764 posts)Washing away the truth. Not that I am surprised. Been following this case and though I had high hopes initially I am afraid the truth about how seeped and vile Christie and much of our government is is going to get left our of our courts and mainly out of our media. The judge is going to spend much of the courts time ruling what is not admissible in this case so that the media does not get too deep and the public accepts some underling taking the blame and not showing how broken our government is becoming. Nope I suspect many of those in charge believe the best thing is to just give our present form of capitalistic government a new coat of paint and run her till the wheels fall off!
What a crazy future we got lined up! stay tuned
