Sanders vows to 'campaign vigorously' for Clinton
Source: Politico
Sen. Bernie Sanders, the runner- up for the Democratic presidential nomination, vowed on Sunday to "campaign vigorously" for the winner, Hillary Clinton.
"I'm going to do a couple of things," the Vermont independent said on CBS' ' "Face the Nation." "No. 1, I intend to campaign vigorously to make the case that on issue after issue Clinton is far and away the superior candidate. No. 2, to stay focused on the real issues impacting the American people."
Pressed by CBS host John Dickerson on whether his supporters would vote for Clinton, Sanders ticked off a series of issues popular among progressives, including overturning the Supreme Court's Citizens United ruling, raising taxes on the wealthy and increasing the minimum wage.
Clinton's positions on those issues, Sanders said, clearly show she is the best candidate.

(5,082 posts)I can see why so many people in politics in general are jealous of him. He accomplished so much so fast. Hillary is gonna kick Trumps ass...but we have to motivate turnout.

I'm going to take a deep breath and talk to her about it in the next week or so. Its not what Bernie would want, clearly.

She really is such a nutcase I think all we need to do is give her some time, and then point out what she's said.

(1,313 posts)1) Bill beat Bush Sr., who they felt should have one. The R's were pissed. Perot helped, but Bus probably would have lost regardless.
2) Bill raised taxes on the upper brackets in '94 in order to balance the budgets. He succeeded, wildly!
3) Bill had a plan to pay off the national debt by 2010. that upset many who thrive of debt and the opportunities it brings them; regardless of how it screws society.
4) Bill presided over a booming economy, vs. the several recessions from Ronnie Raygun and the last downturn from Bush Sr.
5) Hillary tried to push through a Healthcare plan, similar to Obamacare, I think some elements were a little better. They hated her for that and for being a working 1st Lady in government vs. Nancy Reagan or Barbara Bush's picking the china patterns.
6) Finally, this was the rise of Fox news which made it a priority to destroy liberalism and the Democratic party in this country. They made great progress. The Clintons were there at that time so I think they got the brunt of the ire.
Don't forget, they made it a priority to hunt Bill Clinton for his whole two terms in office on the most ridiculous things. The tax raise in '94 really started the hatred'

And I agree with the others here: give your neighbor a little time before confronting.

(14,178 posts)It evolved a little differently. Their runner-up was roundly booed off the stage after making it clear he was NOT supporting their nominee. Also noticeably different - the last President and vice President of their own party not invited.... Again
