Portsmouth, New Hampshire (CNN)Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders will formally declare an end to their political rivalry Tuesday, a moment that couldn't come quickly enough for the former secretary of state trying to unite Democrats against Donald Trump.
Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee, hopes to rev up voters on the left with help from Sanders, the 74-year-old self-described democratic socialist who excited the liberal base and won young voters by large margins during the primary.
The joint rally here in Portsmouth will begin putting to rest Democratic fears of a political nightmare scenario: that Sanders might sit on his hands in the general election -- or worse, run as a third-party candidate on the left.
Clinton aides are confident that Sanders could be the former secretary of state's potent weapon against Trump.

Whoo hoo! Unity!!
On edit, CNN changed the headline at the link. It started as "How the Clinton-Sanders unity summit came together and what it means for Democrats" then changed to "Bernie Sanders endorses Hillary Clinton"

(17,469 posts)I take people at their word. I am not like so many of our politicians who talk about what horrible, vile people their opponents are, then claim to be good friends.
I take people's attacks on my morals and ethics at face value, so all of this "positivity" from these same people strikes me as insincere and rather self-serving. I have spent months being told what a vile person I am for not supporting "their candidate", so I take all this praise and celebration with a large grain of salt. I await for the next issue that will cause the cheering mob to turn on anyone who dares question the orthodoxy.
