The longest serving woman in the House, Marcy Kaptur D-OH, endorses Bernie
Source: Toledo Blade
A surprise introduction was given this afternoon by U.S. Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D., Toledo) the only member of the Ohio Democratic Congressional delegation to not endorse former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Miss Kaptur thanked the crowd for "coming to build a stronger a better America. We love you and we desperately love this country and want it to be a country for all, not just the privileged few."
"I come here to introduce the next president of the United States," she said.

(55,981 posts)moral issue. People will die if we don't change the status quo. In the USofA almost 6 children die out of every 1,000 live births before they reach their first birthday. This is worse than all other modern nations and many not so modern nations. They die from lack of proper health care and general care. This country places a greater emphasis on Goldman-Sachs profits than on taking care of our children. The Ruling Class generally doesn't care if babies of the Lower Classes die. Money and power is more important.

(7,321 posts)I live in California so I had not heard of her before the financial crises just around the time of the 2008 elections. Can't remember exactly when, but this woman stood on the house floor and tore into Wall Street, Banksters Fraudsters etc, not just with sound bites or for political posturing. She spoke with fury and passion and pretty much reminds me of Elizabeth Warren. pulling no punches. I'm curious if Kaptur works in tandem with Warren, presumably she's still a Congressional House member?
Anyhow I really liked her a lot and hoped to hear more about her. But i haven't until now. Endorsing Bernie would be in keeping with the principles she was fighting on behalf during that period.

(35,804 posts)the reason Bernie doesn't have a lot of Congressional endorsements is that our corrupt legislators understand that one of his first priorities will be to stop the gravy train of being a Congressional rep to highly paid lobbyist, don't you? They all love this "career path," if you want to call it that. Bernie will put an end to this and they know it.
Your post above is a tribute to Bernie and his integrity. Thank you so much for the opportunity to point this out.

Marcy Kaptur is a good Rep for Ohio and a good Dem. If she wants to endorse Bernie now, fine.
She will in the end support whoever is the Dem candidate in the GE.
