Obama: Trump No Worse Than The Rest Of The GOP Field
Source: Talking Points Memo
I find it interesting that everyone's focused on Mr. Trump, primarily because he says in more interesting ways what the other candidates are saying as well, Obama told reporters. And so he may up the ante in anti-Muslim sentiment, but if you look at what the other Republican candidates have said, that's pretty troubling, too.
They're all denying climate change. I think that's troubling to the international community, since the science is unequivocal, he continued.
Obama said this is not just Mr. Trump, noting that none of the GOP candidates favor action on climate change.
He also said he doesnt believe Trump will be President, and that he has faith in the American people to cut through the entertainment of the primary race.

(1,825 posts)the unemployment rate was still quite high, and President Obama was vulnerable.
But Republicans thought that they were better represented by a "Greed-is-Good" guy, who loved throwing "saps" out of work. Republicans failed to understand that Independents could be put off by such a candidate. And so President Obama was re-elected.

(32,080 posts)He just does a better job of hiding it than do the others. And, that's what makes him the most dangerous of the lot. One look at his record in Ohio, and you can see that he is just as batcrap-crazy as Trump, Cruz, and the others.

(1,727 posts)in the past few months during the campaign. He just signed a bill to defund planned parenthood. He specifically excluded urban areas with large minority populations when he expanded benefits for the poor limiting the program to rural whites. He's also out there pushing the false narrative that the Senate doesn't have to confirm Obama's appointment to fill Scalia's seat because it's an election year.
It's not possible in this day and age to be a prominent Republican on the national stage who does anything more than pay lip service to political positions that are palatable to people on the left.

(5,902 posts)The mere knowledge that Hillary Clinton is on the ballot in November will motivate even the most hypnotized Fox News viewer to unglue his or her derrière from their La-Z-Boy on Election Day. Such is their irrational hatred for her.
Not so with Bernie.
