Breaking: Trump (20.1%), Cruz (19.4%) and Rubio (18.6%) ALL Within 2 Points In Iowa (post debate)

Source: Opinion Savvy Polling

The race has narrowed thanks to several key factors: expected evangelical turnout; the Cruz voter scorecard debacle; and Trump’s debate absence. Among those who watched the Republican debate, voters prefer Cruz and Rubio to Trump by a margin of 10 points. As the results came in, there was a marked shift in support for Rubio on Saturday night, likely as a result of Cruz’s mailer mishap. Nevertheless, Cruz maintains relatively strong performance among evangelicals, who we expect to comprise nearly 48% of caucus-goers.

Cruz is no worse than him, he just is going at it differently, out and out channeling the craziness of the evangilicals.

But, he is a lot less promising general election candidate than Rubio, who is this year's GWB, the one who has put on a veneer of moderation and has looks and charm.

I want NOTHING to do with him as their general election candidate, because he will win, and it might not be close by the time the media gets done destroying either Hill/Bernie and makes him out to be a more wonderful Ronald Reagan.

I distinctly remember "voting irregularities" in the GOP primary just a few years ago... In fact if memory serves me correctly, Iowa was called for Romney but it was reported weeks later that Santorum actually won. This is just presswork so the GOP can ignore their voters and select a candidate they prefer.

He's the only one that seems to make sense for the Repubs.

He's a moron of GWB level, what with his personal finances and all, but he's not nuts like Trump or hated like Cruz.

However, the delegate math seems to be favoring Trump currently.

Will that put Florida and Ohio into the Republican camp? If it does the math begins to look very scary.

Ohio
Florida
Iowa
Wisconsin
and the Romney states and the election goes to Congress.

The firewall may be Wisconsin. Colorado is meaningless unless the Democrats win Iowa. The Republicans must have a 10+ electoral state in addition to Ohio, Florida, and Iowa.

I have a tough time finding any Romney states that the Republicans will lose in this election. Perhaps North Carolina? Indiana? Right now North Carolina is the only Romney state listed as a toss up.

The vibe here is not great ...

08 was anti-incumbent, a LOT better environment for a democrat running after the, hands down, worst presidency we have seen in our lives, who was an R.

But, given the framing from Rs and their media whores for the last 7 years, what has been a good, I mean a very solid and good presidency, has been so muddled and tarnished, like with Clinton, this country is stupid enough to just want something different from Rs acting like 3 year olds throwing a tantrum and will be REALLY open to electing an R who has not staked the extraordinarily hard right positions most of these idiots have.

He is an empty suit, driven 100% by personal ambition, rather than by any desire to help the country. He also has a shockingly irresponsible and lazy work ethic (his energy being consistently directed toward himself, and not to the job he was elected to do, whether it's the state legislature or US Senate), and he has zero integrity.

All of which means that he will not hesitate to say anything and do anything to get elected.

I very much hope that the voters will not be swayed by Rubio's telegenic, "youthful" looks (something his campaign is promoting shamelessly) , and that they will see the utter lack of integrity within. But my confidence in the voting public is shaky at best.

The Democratic party has really got to be at the top of their game this year.
It would be ever so helpful if we could replace DWS and get a truly competent, articulate and clever DNC chair on board ASAP.

Rubio is preferable to Cruz which I consider the worst by light years.

As far as Trump I think he is the preferable of the three since he has absolutely no core. I think we might actually get moderate Justices from him. Cruz and Rubio would give us more Scalias.

If I had to chose one of the three it would be Trump.

Opinion Savvy Polling = Washington Times (GOP establishment mouthpiece)

Trump is around 30% in most legit polls, including Selzer. If he wins Iowa and New Hampshire, it doesn't matter who finishes second or third. He's already running pretty strong in South Carolina.

It's all getting a bit fishy, the GOP-MSM once again pushing this narrative about a "surging" Rubio with ZERO evidence to back it up. He's gained only 3 pts in Iowa (5 pts ahead of 4th placed Ben Carson), while Trump has overturned 8 pts on Ted Cruz and retaken the lead in Iowa. Knowing how the GOP operates, I'm guessing they've rigged the vote to deny Trump the nomination. Even "Villager" David Gergen is saying if Trump wins tonight, he becomes inevitable. The RNC have been crapping themselves for weeks at the prospect of Trump becoming the nominee and the conservative nutbase officially taking over the party. Now that Cruz has been torpedoed, I don't put anything past them.
