White House reacts to Palin: 'Domestic violence is not a joke'

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House pushed back on Thursday against former Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin's comments on domestic violence, saying the issues she raised on the campaign trail are some that the Obama administration takes "quite seriously."

Palin's son was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman and carrying a gun while intoxicated, police in the family's Alaska hometown said on Tuesday.

In a speech she made Wednesday to support leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, Palin linked her son's charges to his experience in the U.S. military and blamed the Obama administration for not doing enough to support its veterans.

"I can certainly relate to the families who … feel these ramifications of PTSD," she said according to media reports, using an acronym referring to post-traumatic stress disorder.

Is a very serious issue. I have dealt with it firsthand but it is still no excuse for hitting a woman or anyone for that matter.

This was just another "mama grizzly" cheap shot.

I used to have respect for John McCain. As I said in another post to this day I still cannot understand what his calculus was for picking her as his running mate.

I realize that like any mother she is trying to protect her son/family but the whole family needs long term psychiatric help. Really. And for trump to tout her out is beyond the pale.

In another thread it was mentioned that Track Palin started having run-ins with the law well before he was old enough to join the military, his problems obviously started far earlier. Sarah Palin, by blaming domestic violence on PTSD (and by her convoluted reasoning blaming THAT on the President) is continuing her pattern of covering up for her clan.

.... while the other side is all about bombing the everloving shit out of the Middle East under a tRump administration.

If you want to end PTSD, dipshit, stop glorifying war & creating traumatized soldiers.

I wonder if they truly are too simple minded to understand their flawed thinking, or if they realize but simply do not care.

Never mind he likely wouldn't have been to war if it wasn't for people like her supporting and actively bringing about the wars.

What the hell is wrong with these people?

of actual veterans who have served in combat. He may have PTSD, but only from being raised in that dysfunctional household, not from any military experience. Her deflection was an insult to all combat veterans.
