A white supremacist blew his leg off as he attempted to make bombs in a garage covered in racist paraphernalia.

Michael O’Neill, 45, had covered his parent’s garage in Nazi symbols, Ku Klux Klan posters and Confederate flags when he endured the injury in Wheatland, New York last month.

He has since been charged with the possession of an unregistered destructive device, and a judge has ruled that he should be detained by US Marshals, as he is a ‘danger to the community’.

It is thought that his injury occurred when he stood on burning gun powder as he attempted to make an improvised explosive device – and his left leg has since been amputated.

A former corrections officer who police say was making homemade bombs in western New York had the walls of a garage covered with white supremacist paraphernalia, according to authorities.

On July 21, Niagara sheriff's deputies found O'Neill injured inside the garage after he 'stomped' on burning gun powder while using a heat gun to manufacture an improvised explosive device.

Investigators found seven improvised explosive devices (IED) along with bomb-making materials in a search of the garage, according to the Niagara Gazette.

When the Erie County Bomb Squad entered the garage, they found two pill bottles labeled as flash powder, a bag of potassium perchlorate, and 36 shotgun shells reloaded with fragments inside of them. They also discovered a box of triple seven pellets, a plastic bottle labeled as triple seven powder and an IED marked 'Powder w/Nails.'

As a former corrections officer, I don't think he's going to be well received in prison once those he probably messed with previously get hold of him... that is if he gets put in a prison he had anything to do with previously. Then again, his step-daddy will likely help him get a padded cell.
