Busted: Video shows Georgia cop slammed elderly black -- and lied

Source: Raw Story

A former Georgia police officer was indicted this week after cell phone video showed that he lied to justify force against a 69-year-old black man who was moving into his new home.

While responding to a suspected burglary call on May 2 with at least three other officers, then-Clayton County police officer Ryan Hall said that he attempted to arrest 69-year-old Dhoruba Bin-Wahad because he “lied” about a second burglar being in the home.

Although the “fellow burglar” turned out to be another police officer, {cop officer} Hall claimed Bin-Wahad was “uncooperative and verbally argumentative.”

I'll start rejoicing when Prosecutors actually start winning these cases and don't just go through the motions to appease those of us with a conscience.

There in lies (no pun intended) the problem.

When a good cop observes a bad cop doing something wrong

or illegal they lie to cover one another.

The liars should be prosecuted along with those committing the illegal acts.

Police, district attorneys, public defenders, attorneys and judges should face

double penalties when the are found guilty.

It is their job to enforce and uphold the law.

for lying in his report.

The only way to stop these guys from lying constantly is to actually punish them for it.

to see real change in prosecution of cops, or retraining so things like this don't happen.

This never needed to happen. Cops need to stop showing up at a scene of something like a "called in report of burglary"...especially in broad daylight. They could have driven up and watched to see him carrying items out of the house and instead seen him carrying items into the house. The caller could have seen that too, if they hadn't been so panicked by seeing a black man they didn't recognize entering this house. Burglars don't carry things into the homes they are robbing.

This is so disgusting. And I'm so glad this cop was fired and indicted. Let's hope it is followed through and he is convicted and sentenced appropriately for this.
