Dick Cheney: Obama Admin Is The 'Most Damaging... Since World War II'
Source: TPM
Former Vice President Dick Cheney told a crowd of Republicans on Tuesday night that the Obama administration has been the worst in 70 years, according the Wall Street Journal.
The administration has been the most damaging, certainly, since World War II, Cheney said at an event hosted by the conservative Young Americas Foundation in New Jersey.
Cheney lambasted Obama's foreign policy decisions during the 30-minute speech, saying that he expected the Iranian nuclear negotiations to fail and arguing that America's traditional allies in the region have lost all lost faith and confidence in the U.S.
We have a terrible situation now. We need leadership to turn it around, Cheney said.

It's the old switcheroo saying look how bad this guy is so people forget about the two wars he and W started, the housing crisis, the busted economy, the lost jobs, the budget surplus squandered, the debt ran up it plays to his teabagger base but the rest of us are not fooled.
Plus, we know pure evil when we see it.

(8,964 posts)Cheney, former CEO of no-bid Halliburton, laments not having jumped headlong into yet another neocon-inspired Mideast war that would add $3 trillion or more to the deficit and reinvigorate the body bag business. Negotiations with Iran are likely fail, he says, not alluding to the fact that he is hoping for such failure since it would greatly enhance the possibility of war. All this is "damaging" and "terrible", says Cheney.

The New York Times has called for a full and independent investigation into torture of terrorism suspects, arguing that any credible investigation should include possible commission of crimes by former Vice President Dick Cheney and ex-C.I.A. director George Tenet.
The 534-page executive summery of the Senate Intelligence Committees exhaustive investigation erases any lingering doubt about the depravity and illegality of sadistic tactics like rectal feeding as well as water boarding and hanging suspects by their wrists, the newspaper argued Monday in an editorial.
The Times editorial came as two groups, Human Rights Watch and the American Civil Liberties Union, called on Attorney General Eric Holder to appoint a special prosecutor.

(9 posts)After World War II, this country prosecuted war crimes. This administration has declined to prosecute obvious war crimes.
You could make the case that the administration actually committing the crimes is worse but I don't want to get too picky.

(14,733 posts)No, I'm pretty sure the people who actually do crimes are worse than those who refuse to prosecute those crimes. I think you have to make a case to switch the two around.

(12,864 posts)Why would the WSJ (or any prominent publication with a shred of integrity) provide Dick Cheney with a platform to express his opinion? He was one of the chief architects of the disaster now unfolding in Iraq, and has been demonstrably and tragically wrong in matters of national security. Instead of pointing fingers at anyone besides himself, Dick Cheney should be begging forgiveness and/or facing indictment for deliberately misrepresenting the available intel to launch the war that was on the neocon agenda before 9/11.

No, what we're seeing here is Cheney being treated like an elder statesman instead of a war criminal by the corporate media that is an accessory to the crime.
