Recently my wife who is a tour guide called an ambulance for a customer who fell on the sidewalk

She hit her head and had a scrape that was bleeding. Being in her 80s she had fallen previously two weeks ago. The ambulance was called and she was able to set up and was coherent. When the EMTs arrived she knew the drill covering a concussion. Giving her name, DOB, location with some agitation she stated the President of the United States is that asshole Donald Trump, all without being asked. The EMT laughed and stated he never asks who is President in that it distresses people. After release on site and calming down over Trump she was fine for the rest of the trip.

my FIL had severe dementia because bush was president (this was like 2002). I had to tell him, he knows who the Prez is, he just won't accept it. Ask him something else.

If only your wife could have gotten a video, it would go viral. Great story.

the just after Obama was elected. When I asked her about the election this was her exact response. "Any fucking asshole that voted for that other guy deserves what they get" In a small way I am glad she died before trump took office, so she didn't have her last days listening to him spew his shit and worry about SS and Medi. In an even bigger way I wish she was here for the colorful commentary.

Anymore agencies don’t want anything that can be mistaken for being political or causing issues.

I actually saw cases when Obama was president that older white folks would say “that damm ******” when asked.

Politics are so divisive now and that scumbag in the White House is such a threat to people that the simple question of who the president is can be so stress inducing it’s not regarded as safe to use as an assement tool. That speaks volumes.

He had a twinkle in his eye when I told him Ali Baba was doing great in White House helping country recover from Bush disaster. Very satisfying since my rabidly anti-Obama brother was sitting next to us but kept his mouth shut, knowing that our registered Repub Dad was disgusted with Bush and had voted absentee ballot for Obama. Dad was reassured to know our country was finally in good hands before his death that year.

My doctor changed my blood pressure medicine to higher dosage causing me to pass out without warning on the street.
Many people fall suddenly for this same reason. Be sure your wife's is not falling is not caused by a change of medication. It is a common problem which few people on medication know about.

She was the tour guide - it was one of the clients on tour who fell.
But you have an EXCELLENT point. This happened to my 92 old mother a couple of years ago after her physician upped her blood pressure medication.

never mind the agitation or the snarky responses, you're not trying to test for political awareness.

they specifically made this point in my emt training over 20 years ago; it's surprising anyone would still do this.

That was some rugged surgery. It was supposed to be a couple of hours for a valve replacement, but his heart turned out to be a mess and it took twelve hours.

When he was asked who potus was he said "Lincoln," to their consternation. But hey, the president at the time was Ford, and those are both names of cars.

as a rule Mom did not speak that way.

When she was 79 she had to have emergency surgery and before her release a social worker was sent in to make sure she could go home on her own. So the SW starts with her questions and all is going well until she asks who the president is. I could see Mom struggling not to use her favorite phrase in front of the SW and I could tell the SW was thinking "The poor dear doesn't know." Finally Mom blurts out "Well, Bush is living in the White House but Al Gore won the election." To which the SW replied "Your surgeon said she didn't think you needed this interview and I see she was right."

And that's where it ended.
