The write-in votes are not counted until seven days after the election.

But maybe I misheard.

(16,104 posts)3. There are very specific qualifications for write-in votes.
They don't count unless they meet criteria laid out.
Write-in votes for candidates are counted if that person is qualified to hold office. In other words, skip the Mickey Mouse and Nick Saban write-ins.
The law stipulates that write-in votes for a particular contest are not counted unless the total number of write-in votes is greater than the difference in the number of votes received by the first place and second place candidates. If that takes place, write-in votes are counted on the seventh day after the election. If the number of write-ins doesn't mean that threshold, they are not counted.

(9,225 posts)5. Why isn't Nick Saban qualified?
He's more than 30 years old, has been a citizen of the United States for at least nine years, and resided in Alabama at the time of the election.

Yavin4
(35,453 posts)13. Doesn't matter.
If Auburn's coach had lost, he would not be qualified.

(32,121 posts)20. Alabama is in the playoffs
Where is Auburn?
Yavin4
(35,453 posts)21. Again, does not matter to Alabama
He lost to Auburn.

(32,121 posts)22. His record against Auburn is pretty good.
Saban could run for any office in AL he wanted and no one would even run against him.
