Alabamian DSA member proudly proclaims that she will not be voting today."Come election day, Alabamians will have the sacred honor of participating in the democratic process by voting for either a child rapist or a weak-kneed white blob in a suit to go work on Capitol Hill for some unknown corporate donor. Personally, I can’t say that I will be taking part." https://medium.com/@LeftistScumbag/doug-jones-is-a-terrible-candidate-acde501603c1

1. Well, her choice...
but misguided and stupid choice.
And I don't think there is much of a choice there. The moral imperative for anyone who is appalled at the idea of a pedophile and racist ascending to the senate is to vote for Jones. |

2. Some of the comments are excellent.
"This is straight up idiotic. Your vote isn’t about you, it’s not an exercise in vanity, it’s not an opportunity to brandish your progressive bonafides. It is your sacred duty as an adult citizen to PROTECT THE COMMON GOOD." |

3. I agree
We learned what happens when people protest vote (or don't vote) in the last presidential election.
Moore is an evil that will stain our government forever. (If he wins.) |

12. When exactly did voting become an exercise in vanity?
This is a major problem. Suddenly everyone needs to be coddled or cajoled, much like small children, into exercising their right to vote.
It's a moral and civic duty. And in this case, I would say failing to vote in this race puts you in the category of supporting a child molester for Senate. |

14. +1000000000
It shows a lack of awareness of what voting is about.

4. People like her will then complain when the Republicans pass terrible legislation
Then claim that the Democrats did nothing to stop them despite all or most Democrats voting against the legislation. See the Republican tax bill for example.
I still read some lefty blogs and I see this kind of thinking all of the time. Unless you are the second coming of Lenin then you are a corporate shill and no different from a Republican. Even the most conservative Democrat is better than any Republican these days and a full-blown socialist is not winning in Alabama. Some of the people on the left need to understand that not everyone is a crypto-socialist just waiting for a DSA-approved candidate to wake them from their slumber of false consciousness. If they cared about working class and poor people like they claimed they would hold their nose and vote for the lesser evil candidate (in their eyes) that does less damage to working class and poor people. It makes complete sense and even left-wing critics of the Democratic Party such as Noam Chomsky and Adolph Reed have made this sensible argument. But I suspect that for many on the left politics is more about performance and catharsis than policy. |

The last sentence - makes a lot of sense. You have to wonder about their motives - good theory.

5. One of my favorite song lyrics
“Those who choose not to decide still have made a choice.”
I find it applies to many aspects of life but none clearer than this |

6. Notice that she describes the Democrat as a "weak-kneed white blob in a suit to go to
go work on Capitol Hill for some unknown corporate donor". The democratic party has been demonized. Even in Alabama, they talk of the 'corporate' Democrat. This belief stems from attacks on Democrats and the party...corporate? When some attack the Democratic Party, we lose maybe even to a child molestor. I sincerely hope not.

like the white nationalist being welcomed into the Republican party today.

20. Thanks for pointing that out
Doug Jones is an excellent candidate with a long record of public service. Ask the two terrorists sitting in jail for the murders they thought they'd gotten away with in 1963 how weak-kneed Jones is.

and is obviously never going to vote - rare to have a "real progressive" in Alabama, to be sure.

Maybe she can wash herself with her Purity when the SCotUS is 8-1 Wingnut and we're all living under bridges.

22. Yeah that old "leftist" refrain
Beloved of "leftist" blogs and rags since the 90s at least. Since 2004 I've more or less assumed it's complete baloney along with the rest of the VRWC's manufactured reality.
