I respect John McCain for his service to this country. I have, and will continue, to call him a national hero. I could never vote for him, but that is because of his politics and how they effect me and my family, not because of his character.
When Senator McCain made that moving speech, just months ago, about the process and "the regular order" so that we could return to a two party system that respected each other's opinions, I couldn't have agreed more. I am a negotiator by trade. I represent workers, but the side that represents management is also at the table. Mutual respect is necessary to reach any agreement. I also believe in the process.
But when this process, that has shut out the other side (Democrats, in this instance) and progressed without the regular order and without proper hearings, surely makes those words from Senator McCain ring hollow. Without the input of groups, individuals and organizations that will be impacted by this sea change legislation and affect 100% of our economy, the Senator's very moving speech a few months ago sounds very hypocritical. And to support this tax bill, while describing it as "far from perfect" begs the question, "why not wait until we can get a tax bill much closer to perfect than this and attempt to fix the admitted flaws"?
I'm sorry Senator McCain, you have let down the country you love. When we needed a hero to save us from the nightmare we are currently living through, you failed to step up, this time.

(13,106 posts)Republicans are destroying this country.
They are EVIL FUCKING LIARS.
They represent corporations and the wealthy.
They don't give a flying fuck about the working class.
If they all disappeared from the face of the earth I would not shed a single tear.
I would celebrate !!!!!!!

He's not only a hypocrite, he is opposed to practically all the change we need in this country, and has worked to worsen everything in the world. And he did it for the money.

(25,857 posts)And when you look at his record -- crashing multiple airplanes, probably collaborating with the enemy while he was POW(something that has been largely covered up and ignored), abandoning his first wife, lying to the woman who'd become his second wife (although I'll give him points for staying married to her all these years) ,moving from a crappy part of Phoenix while he still represented that district to a much nicer part of town because he was planning on running for the Senate (I was living in Phoenix at the time), his obvious disdain for anyone not wealthy -- just a few examples of his hypocrisy, he's simply not worthy of respect.

It's over, time to shutdown the fucking government that only represents the ignorant and the wealthy!
