One of the features of Politics of Resentment is that you vote to SCREW the people you resent. Liberals, minorities etc.. If it screws YOU at the same time, that doesn't matter. 50 years of dogwhistle GOP politics has created a base that is essentially a bunch of rhetorical suicide bombers. They'll vote to make the lives of liberals worse, even if it means THEIR lives get worse.
