2. THIS IS NOT MUELLER

Hate to burst anyone’s bubble but that is not Robert Mueller. Marines do not wear rank indicators on the sleeves of their utilities nor do they wear unit patches. See the left arm.
In Vietnam, Marines wore rank on their collar tabs if they wore them at all. Wearing rank, especially for officers, was a message for snipers to “shoot me first”.

As the driver for the Chief of Staff, 3rd MarDiv HQ, Dong Ha, for part of 1969, I was routinely introduced to new personnel that would be serving in the HQ area. Capt. Mueller was introduced to me after he had been named Aide-de-Camp to the CG. I remember a very tall (I was 5’8”) skinny officer with a strong handshake, good sense of humor, and always ready to share a smile.
