(17,984 posts)I'm pretty sure Republican Jesus doesn't condone anything approaching what can be considered "healthy". So, are mushrooms "healthy"? You'd better be glad you aren't Republican!

(36,422 posts)It was roasted to perfection, tender and juicy.
That was hours ago, and now I am thinking about making a sandwich. If it was in the house, I'd use Miracle Whip and that would guarantee me a first class ticket straight to Hell.

(11,843 posts)But the proper post Thanksgiving meal is a turkey sandwich on fluffy "Wonder Bread" with mayo and "plastic" cheese (processed American cheese square). Plenty of salt, hopefully some green olives as a complement.
Some would say tasteless meat with fake cheese on fake bread, but it is my favorite leftover meal.
Going to be lunch today, breakfast is my mom's rice custard, we get some at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She has perfected the art, sadly it is one of those things that can't be captured in a recipe, one has to know when the rice is "right", cook it too long, it's watery mush, not enough and it is a crunchy mess. And it cooks more when cooking the custard on top of it, so it is a matter of judging the right texture when boiling the rice, before it is finished.
You are right, the path to Hell is covered in Miracle Whip, Mayo only in this house.

(7,809 posts)I once had ham on Thanksgiving. It was delicious.
There was turkey, too.
I bet the leftovers would have made an amazing turkey cordon bleu...

(10,136 posts)We had the traditional turkey/stuffing/green beans/squash dinner with friends last weekend, and I'm making a cheesecake for another dinner this Saturday. Mr. Retrograde and I celebrate one of our anniversaries on Thanksgiving, often with peanut butter sandwiches: it's what college students stuck in the dorms on a holiday when everything else was closed resorted to.

(3,268 posts)A local supermarket has frozen turkeys at .39 per lb this week and tomorrow I'll be buying a large (20+) and a small (-16). The small, at around $6 goes in the freezer. The large I will cut the breasts off and use one in a yet undetermined casserole and the other will be baked sliced and frozen. The balance of the entire turkey will be boiled down for stock and the meat will be picked off repacked for other uses and the entire $10 bird gone in three days. So for $16 total I'll be eating turkey specials from now until Christmas with a small bird saved until I get over bird one...

(12,132 posts)Medium rare (so proud of her! Lol). We all went to Disney's Rain Forest Cafe because nobody wanted to cook. They had a Thanksgiving dinner but you could order from the regular menu too. I had the turkey. Food was great but damn, they ain't afraid to charge a bunch.
