Maybe they would most closely relate to the high priests? They had back door deals with Judas, bribing him with cash. In the end, they took that dirty (blood) money and bought real estate with it. "And thus the money was well laundered" (John 13, 25).

I honestly wonder. I'd have thought so, but you never know these days. Because if he can say that and get other religious folks to nod along with him... things are far worse than I even realized.
