Former Fox News anchor Bill OReilly paid $32 million to settle a sexual harassment claim a month before Fox News extended his contract, according to The New York Times.
Two people briefed on the matter told the Times that 21st Century Fox, the parent company of Fox News, knew about the complaints against OReilly, which were brought by a Fox analyst.
The complaint contained allegations of sexual harassment and a nonconsensual sexual relationship with OReilly, according to the Times, and was settled for $32 million in January.
21st Century Fox and OReilly reached a four-year contract extension worth $25 million the following month.

(15,805 posts)So it's not someone at Fox, but an outside contracted commentator. Can't be too many women who fit that category.
Adding:
They included allegations of repeated harassment, a nonconsensual sexual relationship and the sending of gay pornography and other sexually explicit material to her...

(32,634 posts)I don't know anything about this case, other than what's posted here on DU.
But apparently she had proof in the form of videotape and written/posted/emails. (No he said/she said.)
And it was not consentual. PLUS she knows the law and wasn't going to let him walk away from it.
So yeah, she got a big payday but it probably wasn't worth it.

(9,213 posts)I have relationships with my coworkers, parents, kids, friends, I had a great relationship with my dog. Doesn't mean any of them were physical.
It is confusing with the terminology used, but in my research on this subject with O'Reilly it does not appear there was ever a physical relationship but he definitely did send her inappropriate pics/videos that she did not ask for or want, so then my speculation is the only reason he would make that big of a payout is if the pics/videos are of him.
