Jeopardy Fans and other DUers- here's a great line from Austin Rogers

“Unlike the current members of the executive branch,” he told the Daily News, “I can back myself up with real facts and real knowledge.”

Austin has won $411,000 so far.

“Jeopardy!” champ Austin Rogers really pushes buttons.

That includes both on the game show — where he has won $394,700 in 11 appearances, $29,300 of it Tuesday alone — and off.

“I’m a genius,” he told the Daily News. “I’m very smart.”

New York writer and critic Jesse Oxfeld linked the game show winner with the White House. (@joxfeld via Twitter)

Most would agree. “Austin Rogers eats up contestants, chews them up, & spits them out. Those who play against him are not worthy,” tweeted @OfficialMisterC, who’s clearly impressed.

'Jeopardy' contestant puzzles, amuses fans with winnings, style

But not everyone is so taken by the cocky smirk and goofy head bob that accompanies Rogers’ victories.

“Really, Austin is the perfect Trump-era Jeopardy champion: a (now) rich a------ who inexplicably keeps winning,” tweeted @joxfeld, who’s among the naysayers.

Either way, Rogers, a 38-year-old bearded bartender who lives in East Harlem and tweeted on Monday that, “Rich is super super cool,” takes it in stride.

“Unlike the current members of the executive branch,” he told the Daily News, “I can back myself up with real facts and real knowledge.”

Rogers, who attended public school as a kid in Westchester and graduated from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., has a way to go to match the record $4,455,102 won on “Jeopardy!” by Brad Rutter.

1. "a (now) rich a------ who inexplicably keeps winning,"

Now this is an stupid thing to tweet. If anything is not "inexplicable", it is how Austin Rogers keeps winning. The guy answers more questions right than the other two people, it's really a simple concept.

3. He seems like an okay guy, though I don't like miming.

I think he's less obnoxious than some of his followers. The point isn't to eat up, chew up, and spit out other contestants. What a thing to say!

BTW, the guy who won 4million + has been on many of the tournaments they've run from time to time pitting all-time champs against each other, so it's comparing apples to oranges.

7. Ken Jennings was nice, affable and humble. Arthur Chu was an ass

Rogers falls somewhere in between.
We watch flipping through commercials and the interviews, so I basically watch the game itself. Rogers has some quirks, but you'd better have some confidence or you would never get on that show.

22. Truth be told, he was off his game yesterday

and so-so the night before. They film five shows a day, and depending how he cycled into the line-up, this could have been his forth day of filming; he was just plain exhausted.

Indeed, a good run, and a rich man. That is, until he talks to his accountant.

10. spoiler 2

yep - on to another champ

Interesting how the one that deposes the king often has a short - usually very short - stay. Caught lightning in a bottle or a new long term champ?

18. good to hear that

I have now changed my opinion.

While I was watching his extreme aggressive style I kept telling myself he was only doing what he had strategized would win for him.
That is the idea of the game - win.

Where ever you are Arthur Chu, I apologize.

14. Winning $400,000 doesnt make you rich.

He’ll probably get at most 65% of that. It’s not like he’s set for life now. Furthermore, being a 10-day champion is no easy task.

Austin seems like a nice, genuine person. Most of the Jeopardy champions come across as extremely arrogant and lacking in personality. Austin was the exact opposite.
