FLORIDA MAN loses football bet - has to burn jersey- puts inflamed jersey back on

Florida man suffers burns putting on flaming jersey

http://www.nbcmontana.com/news/irresistible/florida-man-suffers-burns-putting-on-flaming-jersey/635476634

VERO BEACH, Fla. - Timothy Silyers, 27, and Brianna Hook, 22, of Vero Beach made a bet with each other on the Green Bay Packers vs. Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday, WPLG TV reports.

The bet: The fan of the winning team would get to set the fan of the losing team's jersey on fire, a report from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office said.

The Packers, Hook's team, beat the Cowboys, Silyers' team, 35-31.

The two then went outside and set Silyers' jersey on fire.

Silyers told a deputy he grabbed the jersey with his right arm and attempted to put it on while it was on fire. He said he did it because he was "under the influence of an alcoholic beverage," the sheriff's deputy's report said.

....A constant source of amusement is reading the paper to find the Crazy Floridian Story for the day......

One of my favorites this year is the guy who got into a car collision at a corner. His fault. Well, the guy takes off all his clothes and walks up the road! Never had an explanation....

You come to expect this sort of stuff when you live here.....

There were two articles in the Palm Beach Post on the same day that stick out in my memory. The first is that some guy tried to jump his car on the Boynton Beach drawbridge over the Intracoastal Waterway while it was up (Dukes of Hazzard style) and created a big traffic jam because he impaled the car in the bridge mechanism on the far side of the gap. The guy who did this was unharmed physically.

The second article involved a guy who shot himself in his abdomen with his pistol while stopped at a traffic light. The phrase in the paper was that "he was working his gun" while stopped at the traffic light. Then this dim bulb, instead of trying to get help made the very bad decision to drive himself to the hospital which was about a mile away. On the way he passed out from blood loss and ran into the back of a city bus but fortunately no-one was hurt on the bus. Someone called an ambulance at that point and the guy who shot himself was taken to the hospital was noted in the article to be stable and expected to recover.

I was frequently amused by the various newspaper articles back during those days as well.
