3. Nuclear weapons and missiles are within the capabilities of many countries

Remember, the U.S. had this level of technology in the 1950's. This is 70+ year old technology.

The only reason most countries don't have nuclear bombs and missiles is that it's incredibly expensive and politically unrewarding. North Korea, alas, doesn't give a shit if they stave their population in order to build nuclear weapons and they, obviously, don't care what the rest of the world thinks of them.

I'm sure they got some help from the Russians and Chinese, but don't think this is super high-tech stuff they are doing. It is some super expense stuff they are doing. Stuff that less insane countries don't funnel all their wealth into.

This is missile technology, not nuclear, and may have been stolen rather than sold. Of course, Ukraine denies it all and blames Russia, and there is a Russian defense site that could have been the source.

...the U.S. position in the world. By helping out NK, they might be forcing us to expend more resources to counter the threat. More resources devoted to that means fewer resources devoted to Russia. That's bad for us, good for Putin. Kinda how I see it.

Agreed... Russia/Putin has a wild hair across it's ass to mess with the west. It would behove Russia/Putin to mess with us on all sides. Also NKorea would be plausible deniability..
Who Us?? we didn't do anything..... uggh

China may have a similar strategy in mind in trying to expand in southeast Asia and the South China Sea.

Hell, maybe Putin and Xi are in cahoots.

are very smart, it seems they must have some outside help to push this forward as quickly as it is going. ... much like in school with a complex calculus problem ... even if you're super smart, if someone gives you some hints and direction, it goes far more quickly. Also the costs and material ... outside help must be funneling in.

Someone who has an international reach. A mercenary force that sells out to the highest bidder. This is not state sponsored.

Again - I have no insight into this. Just a gut feeling.
