a conviction...
Should he wait until 2020 to make sure the next president wont pardon the orange criminal?
I would prefer that his whole family lands up in prison. The only way that is possible if Trump/ Pence issue pardons.

(590 posts)My (very amateur) understanding is that Mueller is charged with making one single report back to the DOJ and that is it. So he has to get everything together. I'd be happy to hear from those more knowledgeable.

(1,826 posts)Q. What are a special counsel's powers?
A. Under Justice Department regulations, a special counsel has all the authority of a U.S. attorney, including the ability to initiate investigations, subpoena records and bring criminal charges. One difference, however: Special counsels get to choose whether they inform the Justice Department what they're up to. Before taking "significant" actions, however, the special counsel must notify the attorney general.

(36,926 posts)Mueller needs to move post haste, in order to get these thugs (including Pence) out of our government.

(6,377 posts)The best time for Mueller to drop a bombshell would be the summer or early fall 2020. That way, Trump's approval numbers would completely plummet right before the election, and there would be no time to get another candidate ready.

(21,786 posts)after the Congressional midterms, IF the GOP lose their majority. A simple majority in the House is enough to impeach.Securing a conviction in the Senate would be much harder, but if there's clear evidence of Trump's criminality and malfeasance and the GOP don't vote to impeach, then how does that look? Alternatively, Trump resigns and gets a pardon from Pence and the Republicans suffer for it in 2020. (All of this is assuming Trump lasts that long, which he may not.)
