"I Voted for Trump. And I Sorely Regret It."

When Donald Trump first announced his presidential campaign, I, like most people, thought it would be a short-lived publicity stunt. A month later, though, I happened to catch one of his political rallies on C-Span. I was riveted.

... It is now clear that my optimism was unfounded. I can’t stand by this disgraceful administration any longer, and I would urge anyone who once supported him as I did to stop defending the 45th president. Far from making America great again, Mr. Trump has betrayed the foundations of our common citizenship.

..It’s no longer early. Not only has the president failed to make the course corrections necessary to save his administration, but his increasingly appalling conduct will continue to repel anyone who might once have been inclined to work with him.

. . .
Mr. Trump once boasted that he could shoot someone in the street and not lose voters. Well, someone was just killed in the street by a white supremacist in Charlottesville. His refusal this weekend to specifically and immediately denounce the groups responsible for this intolerable violence was both morally disgusting and monumentally stupid. In this, Mr. Trump failed perhaps the easiest imaginable test of presidential leadership.

Jesus tits, man, at least own up to your own stupidity! This mewling screed by Mr. Krein is just nauseating:

"Trump was different!" Yeah, he was a crackpot in a candidate field chock full of them.

"He talked about things other candidates didn't!" Because as lightweight as many of those other candidates were, they made a modicum of sense, even if I didn't agree with their demented plans for America.

"His policy positions were poorly defined," but I didn't give a shit. And see where that got you, Julius?

"He was never going to fulfill all of his over-the-top promises, but we believed that his administration might achieve some meaningful successes." Because of course, promises he would keep would be all the ones you cared about, right? He might lie to the others, but he'd never lie to you, Julius.

He also has an out-sized estimate of his vast influence on the political scene. Odd for someone nobody's ever heard of.

in my opinion the writer failed the easiest imaginable test of citizenship by voting for tRump.

A lot of people did. Everyone knew he was a bullshitter. Why did they choose to believe that whatever they wanted to be true was?

They voted for someone a savvy buyer would believe a word from if it was about a used car.

they want to abandon the sinking ship? Yea, ok, nothing that guy has done up till now was cause for abandonment? Nothing at all? His non existent policies or dismantling of our governmental infrastructure? Neg ative positions on every fucking thing that he shouldn't be? Where the fuck have you been man? under the sea? another planet?, reality?Nothing up until Saturday afternoon? really?

Yea, thanks, but no thanks. This guy seems like exactly the type of person that will turn right around and vote for the person with a R behind their name over and over again, irregardless of how garbage they may be. The type of person that will let them rake us over the coals and ignore what the candidate they voted for are doing because it doesn't personally affect them, or anybody in their circle.

This guy needed to open his eyes and ears before now. At what point was trump not the worst possible fucking choice imaginable? I knew this was coming, all of it. I'm sure most other people of color and non insane white people did as well.

This writer guy lives in his privilege. A privilege where he can just pretend those dog whistles weren't blaring the entire time. That trump put nothing but a thin veneer of ugliness on an even deeper pool of ugliness and he still voted for him Maybe he didn't attack anybody personally but his vote has directly aid in directly costing a number of Americans their lives before Heather Heyer was murdered by a trump inspired Terrorist.

I don't want your regret, your lamentations and sidestepping reasoning for condemning us all to the 5th level of hell. I want your fucking apologies, I want your ability to recognize the devil before you open the door and say "hey, have a seat, want a mint julip?". I doubt we, the sane people, will ever get any of that that so keep your goddamn regret to yourself and stop voting for assholes complicit in trying to kill us all.

And tRump has been a Matterhorn of horse-shit for decades. Last year he stacked himself even higher. Anyone, and I mean anything humanoid that could tick a box on a ballot or pull a lever, should have known better. It was ALL there to see: chaos, sexism, racism, xenophobia, violent rallies, "build the wall," affluenza, "lock her up," etc.

A balanced individual's own survival instincts would have set off dozens of alarm bells. Now comes the "sadder-but-wiser" bozo who wants to wash his hands like Pilate and be clean of the whole fucking mess. No soap. You wanted this, and you gave it to ALL of us. We don't even know yet if this country will survive your vote.

So, please, you and your ilk, the oh-gee-I'm-sorry tRump voters, kindly go fuck yourselves.
