I think it's more like the flu. You can get the vaccine this year but next year that little bugger has mutated just enough to sneak past your defenseless immune system.

getting the flu. Wash/alcohol gel your hands frequently during the day. Don't touch your face. Get plenty of rest. Minimize contact with sick people. Cough/sneeze into your elbow and teach others to do the same. Lots we can do. Same with this mess, only we didn't do it and now we're sick. What we should have been doing: Be politically engaged. Inform ourselves about local/state/national issues and candidates. Encourage those around us to do the same. Call our reps and senators, state and national, on a regular basis. VOTE!!! I'll admit to not doing much of that except voting. Shame on me but I'm doing better now and so are so very, very many others. We'll beat this but winter always returns and we need to stay prepared.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
