Rachel Maddow Just Busted The [Grassley] Senate Republican Plan To Save Trump From The Russia Scan

I heard this tonight and my heart sank. Several weeks ago when this Grassley and Feinstein Senate Judiciary Comm was set up I was initially elated. But then I read a short sentence or two from Grassley and I went DRATS!!

I posted about it but honestly do not recall why I was upset about the specific of what Grassley had said at the time but I knew his agenda was not good, as it was aimed at proving the Russian documents were crap. Anyway--here it is--Grassley is going full speed at saving Trump (and trying to prove the Democrats are the evil).

I did a quick search and did not find anything about this except for Rachel (politico has an article but nothing Rachel talks about is in it.

Rachel Maddow blew up the Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman's scheme to save Donald Trump with conspiracy filled hearing on Wednesday.

This thing that is about to happen on Wednesday that just got scheduled tonight. This is the thing that I have been saying was coming. This is the thing I’ve been saying was coming from Congressional Republicans and Republicans who want to defend Donald Trump. Sen. Grassley has sent the subpoena tonight to head of Fusion GPS. He has canceled the testimony from Don Jr. and Paul Manafort and instead of hearing from them next week on the collusion issue, the Senate instead, will play host at a big open televised hearing to the big Republican pushback theory that they have been gearing up with, gearing up for on conservative media for a couple of weeks now.

This is the big push back in which they will claim that there is a Russian scandal, but it’s not a Trump/Russia scandal. It’s the Democrats, and the dossier on Trump, that’s the real Russia scandal. That’s from Russia, and the scandal is about Hillary Clinton and the Democrats. We have known this was coming. Now, as of tonight, we know it is arriving on Wednesday morning in the Senate, and the first subpoena has just gone out.

The Senate Judiciary Committee is the home base for the Republican defense of Trump on the Russia scandal in the Senate. People should have known that Grassley was going to pull a bait and switch...........................

And from the Republican Party. Just last night a group on MSNBC said it's far too late and large to be stopped, though. Likely they hope to drag it out while they finally manage to use their power to accomplish some goals, like getting taxation and regulation off the backs of the wealthy.

I have such a bad memory but this is reminding me that last month someone actually gave documents needed for the JC investigation to the Senate Intelligence Committee instead because the JD couldn't be trusted. Comey? Pointed out by Rachel, I believe.

I was busy, then trying to listen while not falling asleep. Think it was earlier. But, though these are experienced people, it was opinion. I took heart from the statement but wouldn't bother looking for it.

My own opinion ( ) is that the White House and the worst of the congressional caucuses are stuffed with so many dysfunctional, profoundly dishonest and amoral fools who badly disrespect and underestimate the power and virtues of our republic that they can't help failing. We're watching rather spectacular evidence of just that.

Not coincidentally, after almost two decades of not buying Altemeyer's The Authoritarians because he published it free on line as a public service, I finally ordered and received a bound copy. There are other types of dangerous right wingers, of course, including authoritarian leaders, but reading it these days causes far more political names and faces to pop to mind than it did long ago. Scary, but if their potential for evil is potentially virtually unlimited, so is their capacity for competence.

In this case, it could be that Grassley is trying to confirm who ordered this (and we know who it was but they want to try to link Democrats to it as well, while ignoring the "Stop Trump" and "Never Trump" PACs that originally funded it). ...but the report was written by the guy who's a true British spy.

Steele sifted the info from of his previously written reports concerning what happened in Moscow the past couple of years before Trump was a candidate. Nobody tracked his activities before Cheeto became a candidate, but they were significant.

The British government had all of this info ALREADY! So do the Germans and at least one or 2 other spy agencies. We're the last to hear any of this about the Trump and Putin collusion. Names, dates and places are given in the dossier. However they've been blacked out of the version that we get to see.

discredit the Steele Dossier (whether it's true or not) and then proclaim loudly.

However, the Steele Dossier wasn't the only investigation...
