I don't know if Trump called or what, but O'Donnell said that he told Trump he'd vote for the bill next week. I THINK that's what he said, and not just that he'd be there for the vote.
McCain is a very reliable Republican, which is why he's popular among the establishment. He blusters & says wise things and has friends across the aisle, but in the end he votes with his party. Of course, Arizonians probably want McCain to vote that way.

(16,549 posts)He will likely not live to serve out the 6 year term he was elected to in November, and it's even less likely he will ever run again. Sorry he's dying but apparently the GOP party first ethos is a till death do us part thingy. Most regular people wouldn't want stripping healthcare from 32 million to be part of their legacy.

She wouldn't be eligible for Medicaid, except that Arizona started accepting extra funding from the federal government via the Affordable Care Act in 2014 to raise the income threshold for Medicaid in the state. That enabled Arizona to expand Medicaid to cover more people.
The replacement plan the GOP leaders in Congress have proposed would cut off the federal funding for that sort of expanded eligibility after 2020.
Swapna Reddy, a professor at Arizona State University's School for the Science of Health Care Delivery, says as Congress overhauls the health care law, a state like Arizona might particularly suffer.

(19,569 posts)The last of his legacy will be as a person who pandered to the likes of Trump if he makes that vote. There's no way he has enough time left to undue the damage his vote will inflict on his legacy, not to mention his voters, before he's out of office.
It seems a bit of a shame, but it's his choice to make.

(51,311 posts)vote against type, vote against TrumpCare.
Vote for the veterans who followed in his footsteps but don't have his insurance;
vote for their mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and widows, who waited, welcomed, or grieved but who won't have access to health insurance, family planning, or Medicaid;
vote for young Americans whom you hope never see battle but who need most now to remain on their parents' insurance plans while trying to get an economic foothold and independence.
Time for this POW, this prisoner of conscience, to vote his conscience.
