Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin, also a Democrat, refused to give voting information for a different reason. Theyre not going to get it, said Brian McNiff, a spokesman for Galvin. Its not a public record. Massachusetts law specifies that the voter data shall not be a public record.

Better keep pics of President Obama handy when you have your appointments!
Yep, physically he was ok, but now, continuing in his alcoholism and rage, at 64, he can't be doing very well. Apparently his family is afraid of him so no one confronts him.
He was practically a wet-brain back when we broke up.

(83,792 posts)Connecticuts secretary of state, Denise Merrill, took a more nuanced position. Merill, a Democrat, said she would share publicly-available information with the Kobach Commission while ensuring that the privacy of voters is honored by withholding protected data. However, she took special exception to Kobach making the request, who she says has a lengthy record of illegally disenfranchising eligible voters in Kansas.

Oklahoma will be giving out enough information that it could be used to target voters who are likely not to vote Rethug.

(10,952 posts)act which really pisses me off.
I am a state employee and one time there was some group looking for information on state employees that had the potential to really cross the line into invading people's personal information. Some of us talked to our HR Dept to find out what could be done to make sure that certain personal information was not made public.
I hate this place too. I regret moving here three years ago to be near family when I retired. Now I'm too old and unwell to move.

I indicated that I did not agree with sending our voter rolls anywhere
as it opens more doors to identity theft and possible misuse of information
I said if they have to (because Wash st has a public info stupid thing

I also said that's the way all the public voter rolls should be
I then tried the
Im sure that she and her people know their job and already verify someone is eligible to vote when they register and that voters have not voted multiple times in any election.
Im thinking if we all say the elections offices know how to do their jobs and say how "That man" thinks they dont and that they should send in everything with names crossed off and the words verified Voter across it may drive home a point. But probably not with him anyway.

(14,167 posts)Social security numbers are not publicly available information, and absent suspicion of a crime or a business contractual agreement, there is no legitimate reason to hand that information over.
It's a given that the Republican SsOS are going to fork over the information. However, voters in those states should consult their state laws and contact the ACLU. The threat of lawsuits might cause them to back down. If not, at least we would have the opportunity to examine the motives for this operation under oath.

The commission seems to be distracting attention from the most serious challenge to the integrity of our election system: The threat of cyber-attacks by outside forces, including foreign governments, who seek to disrupt and undermine our elections. Cyber-security is where we need to concentrate our attention and energy."

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) A Libertarian Party candidate for governor has qualified to be on the ballot for November's general election in Virginia.
The Virginian-Pilot reports 34-year-old Cliff Hyra will join Democratic nominee Ralph Northam and Republican nominee Ed Gillespie on the Nov. 7 ballot. The Virginia Department of Elections confirmed Thursday that Hyra had qualified, following the submission of petitions bearing more than 10,000 signatures.
Hyra is a patent attorney from Hanover County and is running for elected office for the first time. He has a bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering from Virginia Tech and a law degree from George Mason University.
Libertarian Robert Sarvis collected less than 7 percent of the popular vote in the last Virginia gubernatorial contest.

(7,643 posts)All the voter data from at least 30 states is being funneled through Kris Kobach in Kansas:
see p.8 & 9 of this document:
Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck Program
http://www.nased.org/NASED_Winter_2013_PP_Presentations/KANSAS.pdf
Kris W. Kobach
How does it work?
Each state pulls data on January 15 each year using
prescribed data format
Upload data to secure FTP site (hosted by Arkansas)
Kansas IT department pulls data, runs comparison, uploads
results to FTP site
Each state downloads results from FTP site, processes them
according to state laws & regulations
Kansas deletes all other states data
