Howard Stern...

I know Howard isn't popular around here...but I like him. I would pay to see him debate Rush, Hannity, or any of the right wing pundits. It would be comedy gold all while watching them getting their asses handed to them by the likes of Howard Stern.

Perfect!!

Years ago I thought I hated him and a friend gave me his books to read and I grew to appreciate him. I really like Robin, his voice of reason.

He's become very liberal, which many of his caveman right-wing fans are upset about. They hate his defense of Obama, and his criticism of Bush.

Howard ran for governor of New York in 1994

In 1994, Stern entered the New York Governor's race as a Libertarian candidate. His platform was to fix the roads at night, repeal the death penalty, and once he achieved his goals as Governor of the state, he would resign. Stern didn't last very long in the race, however. He dropped out after refusing to disclose how much her was financially worth.

There is absolutely no nuance in your support of Stern. He dislikes Limbaugh, Coulter, et. al., so that must mean you endorse a libertarian.

How does that translate to me endorsing a libertarian?

He's an entertainer...what the hell do you think I'm endorsing?

Braveheart is one of my favorite movies...Mel Gibson is an asshole...should I stop liking the movie? Does liking the movie mean I endorse Gibson's idiocy?

Libertarians on the internet use any brief positive association or statement by somebody they want to glom notoriety off of as enough of a reason to declare the person an official Libertarian on their team in perpetuity. Like most of what they say, it's bullshit.

Howard has vehemently supported every Democratic Presidential nominee since 1992. He's still an independent though, as he was and will probably forever be.

I used to tune in off and on during his last couple of years of "free" radio.

Sometimes there would be racist / sexist material...he's always claimed to be an "equal opportunity offender"...sometimes it would be funny, sometimes it would be sharp satire or commentary. Other times, he'd go off on a half hour rant about how one of the interns didn't know how to correctly microwave his baked potato. And when he had the books / movies in progress, the show would turn into a daily infomercial.

He has been, and always will be, an extreme roll of the dice.

He's eff'n hilarious.

He's not sexist or rascist. He's funny. He uses sexism to make fun of sexism.

If you take offense, then you don't get the joke. Or it's on you and you don't like it.

Just listened: brilliant and erudite as ever!

And air it nationally. And this was in 2004, after only one term's worth of material!

Granted, I've never bought the 'Bush is a moron' meme. I estimate his IQ at above the mean for the country and well below the mean for presidents. But still, it was really damn funny

When he 'goes after' someone, it usually has very little to do with anything other than a way for him to gin up ratings.

Of course, he doesn't have any ratings anymore, his audience is estimated to be less than 150K listeners at any given time.
