Sanders sent $100,000 to DNC in May
http://www.politico.com/story/2017/06/21/bernie-sanders-money-democratic-national-committee-239821
Sen. Bernie Sanders, who clashed with the Democratic National Committee during his 2016 presidential campaign and continues to criticize the party, gave $100,000 to the DNC in May to help cover costs from his cross-country spring tour with DNC Chairman Tom Perez.
Sanders and Perez embarked on the nine-state unity tour earlier this year after Sanders' endorsed candidate, Rep. Keith Ellison who supported Sanders in the 2016 presidential race lost the race for DNC chairman to Perez. Sanders moved the money from his presidential campaign account to the DNC to help pay for the tour, according to campaign finance records and Sanders spokesman Josh Miller-Lewis.
The rare transfer of money from Sanders to the national Democratic Party comes after the unity tour and addition of Ellison as a deputy chair at the DNC, two changes that could signal a thaw in a high-profile, often-icy relationship. Former DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Donna Brazile, who led the DNC after Wasserman Schultz resigned, were both Hillary Clinton allies a fact that roiled Sanders supporters when hacked emails showed DNC staffers discussing Sanders unfavorably during the primary.

(882 posts)Now, if there were just some way to blame Bernie for the Ossoff loss...

(53,041 posts)And not by insinuation. We were told in no uncertain terms the loss was the fault of Nancy Pelosi. So what if the GOP ran ads trying Ossoff to both Bernie and Pelosi? It's all Nancy's fault, just like it was all Hillary's and DWS's fault.
It takes a lot of nerve to play victim with all the crap that has been hurled at Pelosi and other Democrats on this board today. But someone somewhere may get be harboring thoughts that Bernie isn't superior to everyone else on the planet, and that is something that cannot abide.

(18,402 posts)If we recall, it was at Sander's request that the so-called "Unity Tour" was dragged to an unscheduled appearance in Omaha, Nebraska ... to plug a mayoral race, of all things. And the candidate he dragged the whole party entourage to tout happened to have a pretty active anti-choice history. And it caused some significant blowback from a significant chunk of Democrats.
One wonders if $100K even covers the whole costs of that unwise side trip. Plus, when you are sitting on $5.3 million and $3.9 million war chests that you can only use to pay off debts or spend on your own or others' political support, dropping $100K to pay a party back for a misbegotten junket you made them go on is hardly some generous or altruistic action.

(18,402 posts)With about 30 threads in which Nancy Pelosi is asked to step down, and the DNC castigated for picking such a bad candidate in GA 6 (though they didn't pick him: he won an 18-way, multi-party primary, qualifying him to run).
Unity goes 2 ways, you know.

(18,402 posts)As per the article:
Sanders has $5.3 million in his presidential campaign bank account left over from the last election, in addition to $3.9 million in his Senate campaign account as of the end of March.

(67,782 posts)...are not rare. Democrats have routinely transferred excess funds from suspended campaigns to the DNC.
From the article, "Sanders has $5.3 million in his presidential campaign bank account left over from the last election". $100,000 is less than 2% of his remaining Presidential treasury.
